Finding Sleep

98 4 1

I've forgotten what it's like to fall asleep

no more is it gentle waves along a shore

or as common as the sky is blue

No, It's more like trying to catch a fish with your hands

always slipping away

and never quite within reach

A hurricane of tossing and turning has replaced

the lull of quiet breathing

So desperately trying to fall into the world of slumber

but never getting there on time

Nights turn into days

as eyes refuse to stay shut

the brain refuses to shut down

continually buzzing

about this and that

How i yearn for

a night of soothing silence

quickly driftin into dreams

and then slowly,

gradually, waking

to a day anew
