Chapter 12 ~ Special Chapter 2 ~ Gem Cold

When Y/N was with Amethyst, they'd joke around, with Amethyst copying every shape or form Y/N would take, teasing her and playing around. They'd gone out the the big donut a few times, stealing donuts, eating donuts, annoying Lars...and more!

Amethyst wasn't so sure about you though, how you seemed so fine with everything, but so lost at the same time. Whenever you'd walk somewhere unknown, your eyes would search the area in...panic? You were looking for someone, perhaps just some guidance of Earth. I mean, a young Ruby on earth was not a common thing.

Pearl was a bit... different, to say the least. Pearl always made sure Y/N listened to every word that flew from her mouth, making Y/N do things that she didn't find comfortable. For example, dancing ballet, cleaning Amethysts room and practicing shapeshifter(which their was no point in doing).

But Pearl saw right through you, though she would not admit it to your face, she... dislikes you. You could see this, you could sense her nervous aura. Her posture would wobble every time she looked at you, why? Because you reminded her so much of Homeworld.... that dreaded place, which she didn't dare speak of. For many reasons. The dark memories haunted her, but Rose seemed to help them fly away, but Rose was gone. Who was to help her now.

But sometimes, Pearl saw through you, your broken smile, cracked starry eyes, swollen heart. Everything. She sensed your sadness, in a mother instinct way... you missed someone, just like her, you were suffering a loss. It almost made her forget about homeworld, it almost made her pity your sadness. But, she'd learnt the hard way, and so were you.

Garnet however was different from the two, her Ruby side seemed to care about her a lot, due to the fact of her being another Ruby I suppose. Sapphire also cared a lot, as she saw you as a future allie, and she saw... Her Ruby in you. Younger, naive, childlike and... scared. Yeah, scared. A word that shouldn't be used in a sentence like that, referring to a solider.

You were terrified, alone, your eyes screamed for help. You missed Tiger Eye a lot, it had seemed.... you'd grown surprising close in the small period of time. It confused Sapphire, how could someone get so attached so easily? But as she had said, naive. A key fact in a young Ruby. And, you were a young Ruby.

Anyway, Steven was joyful, and tried to make every moment of the cold fun. Which wasn't a hard task for such a cheerful boy. Steven was always ready to help you learn, no matter what the weather, he was there. Steven seemed very reliable, which was a good thing, he also seemed trustworthy, but trusted people too much. It would be useful in the future in your eyes, you knew.

Steven couldn't really see anything wrong with you, you were just happy around him, your little facade covered up it all. Your sly grin, you evil giggling.... but sometimes, that wasn't the case. Sometimes you'd smile genuinely. Sometimes you'd giggle happily. It honestly made you feel safer being around this boy.

But at the end of it all. You missed them. They. He. She. Tiger Eye. The strong beast which had sworn to protect you with its gem, the beast had become... a best friend of sorts... and you missed her. Whenever you looked around in a new room, place, whatever, you'd look for Tiger. Your gleaming smile, starry eyes, happy heart, covering the truth of loss of Tiger. You'd lost her, and felt lonely without her. The scared Ruby that Sapphire saw in you, was indeed because of Tiger Eye. Who was going to protect you? How were you to protect them? Questioned screamed in your small head. Your sly grin and evil giggling was your plans, not like Navy. Sure, betrayal seemed in order to make your plan move, but Tiger Eye was more important.

Finally. It was over. The pain, torture, death like feeling. Gone! That stupid cold was gone, and never coming back, as Gem cold was a once in a life time thing, most of the time. Sure you had your struggles, surviving 4 days of the dreadful cold, but now it was over. You could relax, lay back, have a drink. Of orange juice. The gem cold was probably the worst thing that has happened in your short life, other than loosing Tiger.

Speakinf of which,"Garnet." You stated, looking to the tall fusion, whom was walking to her room. She stopped and turned around, looking down to meet your gaze. Other the past days of shapeshifting, when the cold finally left, you'd realised that you'd... 'grown' a few inches! It was great to be a bit taller. "When can I get Tiger Eye back?" You asked politely, hands behind your back. "When Pearl decides that your worthy and able to control them." Garnet stated, strolling into her room. You huffed in frustration, crossing your arms and tapping your foot.

Who, and why, would someone keep their best friend from someone else? The Crystal Gems would. You missed her so much... you sighed, walking over to the couch, head planting the sofa. Steven was out with a friend, called Connie. She was a young human, who attended sword fighting with Pearl. A Pearl and a human, ridiculous, yet...smart and amazing. The two low ranking creatures, communicating, being happy to help each other. Who would have thought.
