song for chapter: habits by tove lo
{ gotta stay high all my life to forget I'm missing you }

[ ALLISON'S POV ]

My eyes scanned myself in the mirror of my pale yellow bathroom. My chest inhaled a deep breath, then exhaled relieving my nerves.

I walked back into my room grabbing onto my black suit case. Before making another move, I looked around my bedroom.

I'm really gonna miss it here in Chicago. Everything's been so peaceful for once in my life.

My eyes caught onto the black wooden box that sat on my night stand causing my whole body to sink but not in a negative way.

A very light smile crossed my face while I walked over to the dresser. My hands softly brushed against the top of it.

I grabbed into the box and slowly walked to my bed while opening it. My body sat down onto the edge of the bed picking up the pictures that were inside.

My finger tips held onto the edges of all of the three-hundred-sixty-five pictures.

I could feel my heart slowly fall just looking at the sunsets. My eyes drooped at the memories. They are the only memories of Ethan that I brought here to Chicago with me.

"Allison! Are you ready?" Taylor yelled from downstairs. My head shot in the direction of the door; my hands putting the pictures back into the box and closing it.

"Yeah, I'm coming!" I quickly got up from my bed putting the box back onto the dresser.

I struggled carrying my heavy suitcase down the stairs earning a laugh from Taylor. "That thing is bigger than you!"

"I have a lot of clothes, okay?" I laughed lightly reaching the bottom of the stairs.

"You have boxes full of them in the car too." She rolled her eyes while smirking.

I laughed lightly while the room began to fill with silence as our eyes traveled around the house.

"I'm gonna miss it here." She admit.
I turned my head back to her and let out a sigh, "me too."

Unexpectedly her arms wrapped around my shoulders giving me a side hug, "im happy we made the choice to come live here and get away from everything back in Jersey."

"Thank you for coming with me. You left everything behind for me. You didn't have to and you did." I rested my head onto hers.

"I wasn't gonna let you deal with your pain alone, Allison. Even if that meant leaving Grayson, it's been you and I since day one." She let go of me and held onto my arms.

"I'm just happy he was understanding." I tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Oh totally. He was perfectly fine with doing long distance as long as you and me were gonna be okay." She explained.

Grayson has the biggest heart out of anyone I know. He knew he'd be letting his girlfriend go for more than a year, yet still did it just so we could be happy.

"Oh look at my beautiful young girls!" My grandma clapped her hands together holding them against her chest.

An automatic smile arose onto my lips. "I'm gonna miss you and your little compliments so much Grammy."

I walked over to her pulling her in for a warm hug. She hugged me tightly back, "Aw, I'm so proud of you, Allison."

"You're not proud of me?" Taylor held her hand to her heart while her jaw dropped dramatically.
