Ricardo Valera

Today was the day when I will be visiting the town of Pembroke. They are one of the towns that I visit quite a bit but lately, they are experiencing a lot of problems. The mayor of the town has been causing issues financially and therefore all the people of Pembroke are trying to revolt against him. So I decided to check the issue out after many complaints were written to my palace. Hopefully, I can deal with the issue once and for all. It wasn't pleasant seeing people suffering.

I even knew every single person from Pembroke. It's because I've visited so many times and I can tell that they aren't as close as they use to be. I remember Pembroke being one of the towns that everyone dreamed about, where everyone appreciated others and when people felt down they instantly jumped to help them. It was such a nice place to visit but now it's getting more cold and distant. I think something needs to happen. But what? They might need a new mayor or maybe we should have some sort of council for the town as it is the largest in the kingdom.

When I arrived at Pembroke. I noticed that everyone was there waiting for me by the town hall. It was nice to see them but the fact that they stood like robots, ignoring the people around them, made me feel so upset.

"Your highness, why the sudden arrival?" The governor asks kneeling on one knee and everyone else followed on cue. They looked at the floor in desperation for help apart from the mayor who was faking innocence. I need to sort this out right now.

"As you can see, Arnold. My people are not happy. You've been holding onto all the money that I've been giving you and everyone is struggling. Look at them. This isn't the same Pembroke that it once was. This town was a monument for what Valera is all about but you've disgraced that title by making its citizens suffer with little money." I stated boldly hoping he got what I was saying, after all, he was a traitor.

I saw his face drop and I knew that I had gotten to him. We both knew the truth and there's no denying that.

Before he had the chance to say something, I held my hand up in the air to show that I was about to speak. He just dropped his head knowing that he got caught.

" I've decided that your actions are an offence to the royal family of Valera. Valera is meant to be a kingdom of happiness and well-being. However, these people have complained to me enough to therefore decree that I am having you, Arnold Van Dire locked in the cells of my kingdom until I see fit." The two guards that were standing just behind me, grabbed a hold of him and dragged him away.

He was yelling and kicking his legs around because he didn't like it but he's caused treachery in my kingdom and I refuse to accept that.

"YOU MOTHERF***ER, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? YOU RICH B****RD. THESE PEOPLE ARE DUMB, YOU ARE DUMB. THEY DIDN'T DESERVE A PENNY OF WHAT I HAD. THEY WERE GREEDY. YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE WHAT I HAVE DONE"

"ENOUGH!!!! Your insults are worthless. You've done nothing but disgraced the Pembroke name. These people are better without you. Goodbye Arnold." They dragged him to the celled carriage behind my Royal carriage. Once they were gone, I looked over the people of Pembroke and they were still kneeling.

I think they've knelt long enough.

"Arise citizens of Pembroke." Indeed they did. They stood up quickly and I looked over each one. They had an expression of sadness but relief. I think they know that there now in safe hands and I'm glad because it means that we can restore Pembroke to its former glory.

"Each citizen will receive a large sum of money this week, courtesy of the Royal family as an apology for having little money from the past two years. I apologise for not noticing sooner but now that this problem is solved, I will ensure that Pembroke gets a new decent mayor. One that won't be selfish or cruel. I want Pembroke to go back to the way it was. Known for its kindness and appreciation of others. For us all to become united as one once again and care for others. We are all humans and we are bound to feel pain at one point but the pain lessens when others help. Pembroke is now free of being trapped financially. I will ensure that each member is compensated. Is there anything, anyone else would like to say?" A woman holds up her hand slowly and shakily like she was scared of me. I knew her name was Samantha and she had a daughter called Katia but I assumed her daughter was at home. After all, children under sixteen don't need to be at the meetings.
