~He could seduce her body but she could seduce his soul.~
~"I may not know a lot of things but what I do know is that you will be mine and no one, especially you, will be getting in my way."~
~The weather was caught up in the hurricane of Ever's bea...
I drew in a deep breath and strolled through the golden double doors. This was where I was staying until I got booted out of the competition which, I hoped, would not be long.
I took my suitcases and went to my room to get refreshed before all the girls were called down for their first meeting. My phone buzzed and I glanced at it to see yet another text from Ada, my best friend.
I had met Ada freshman year. I had accidentally walked into the boy's bathroom and quickly walked out, bumping into a certain Ada Lovelett. It was the best mistake of my life. Ada had practically cried laughing. The rest was history.
Ada was the most vivacious, bubbly, and upbeat person I had ever met and the boys sure thought so too. Ada was always giving me relationship advice and trying to set me up but I always said I never had time.
Ada had gone off the walls when I told her the news and when the whole school had found out that I would be representing Pinewood High, I had snowballed in popularity. Suddenly everyone knew my name. People smiled at me in the halls.
It was the most social interaction I had had in years. And I hated it.
Ada had given me too many ways to win Damian's heart. I smiled as I remembered our last conversation:
"Girl you've got to go out there and be confident! Keep him guessing! Pull him in and then back away!"
"As much as I appreciate your advice Ada, I think I'll be lucky if he even glances in my direction."
"Oh shut up Ever! You're the most badass, hilarious, and intelligent person in LA and if you actually tried talking to people, boys would be tripping over their basic vans to start something with you."
"Thanks Ada."
"Just wait and see Ever. He might seduce your body but you'll seduce his soul."

I glanced at the clock now and realized I was going to be late for the first meeting.
"Ah shoot, shoot, shoot."
I threw on some ripped skinny jeans and my favorite white Nike windbreaker and dashed out the door.

"... and good luck ladies!"
Sasha, the event host, had gone on and on for the better part of an hour about the Annual Bachelor Fundraiser rules. No sabotaging, no stealing of fake eyelashes, no cheating...etcetera etcetera.
I wondered how anyone could possibly cheat at winning someone's heart.
Most of the other contestants/girls were lacking diversity. Obviously, some schools had been smart and picked girls who were elegant and intelligent, a winning combo, but most girls had blond hair, pristine nails, and their makeup seeped into their pores.
I prayed for their skin.
It was typical though. High schools usually had a stereotypical superficial mindset about these competitions; the prettier the girl, the easier it is to win. I was lucky enough to be part of a high school who knew the right way to winning a man's heart...with wit and not a makeup kit.
"Hopefully he's not blind and stupid," I arrogantly thought to myself, "because if not then I definitely have a chance."
I was becoming more confident than I thought. Way more than I'd like to be.
"Alright ladies second to last part!" Sasha practically screeched. "There will be four events. After each event, a number of people will be eliminated until the final round with four finalists, which as you all remember is surprising and unique each year!"
Oh I definitely remembered.
Last year it had been an epic minivan race with Honda sponsoring, and the year before that it had been whoever could provoke the most heartfelt poem from the bachelor himself...with Tinder sponsoring.
I wondered what the final event could possibly be this year.
" And last part people!" Sasha's voice screeched through the air and my ears hurt, " we have a surprise!" " The first event will be today! Come to the hotel's ballroom at nine for a Meet the Bachelor Ball! Now, remember, there will be eliminations after so do not take this lightly!"
"Great. Just great. Where am I going to find a dress," I thought. But I already knew the answer before I completed my thought.
Ada.
~
Ada cackled when I showed up on her doorstep asking for help and I had never been more terrified in my life.
" Honey I'll make you look like a damn goddess." Ada looked at me expectantly.
"Yay?"
"You know what? Don't talk. You're the model, and I'm Marc Jacobs."
I rolled my eyes and instantly regretted coming to Ada's house.
The next two hours Ada worked her magic and I barely knew what was happening the whole time.
"Alrightttt closeee your eyeeesss!" she singsonged.
"They've always been closed Ada."
"Hush my child. Okay, open them!" Ada was giddy with excitement.
I opened my eyes and tried to suppress my awe before Ada got too full of herself.
"Wow Ada I never knew I could fall in love with myself. At this rate, I might just drop out of the competition for myself," I remarked sarcastically.
My dark brown hair was curled into thick voluminous waves and swept to one side. I wore a floor-length soft red dress which complimented my skin tone nicely. It was tight in all the right places. Too tight. But I would bear it for this one night.
I wore black strappy suede heels and Ada had been too extra and even painted my toenails gold. I also had on winged eyeliner and mink eyelashes which did their job to accentuate my large brown eyes.

"Seriously. I don't know what to say...thanks Ada I actually feel beautiful."
"And you look beautiful too. Now go out there and sweep him off his feet."
