Brave Soldier

He walks out the door

Trying to be bold

Hoping to one day

be seen

As a hero

His family inhales

Holding their breath

Thou shall not kill

But he has to defend

For he does not want to meet

His own untimely end

The grief can be seen underneathe

The pride

But he has to support

For a Man that's life

For his country will be fair

And give money to his loved ones

They will all get their share

The journey is long

His location unknown

As he waits

And waits

For letters from home

The comfort he receives

Are only words

That always seem to

leave tear streaks

He meets men

That become his brothers

They all take care

of one another

He is physically trained

But emotionally drained

He is told to not hesitate

To take a life

If they are a danger

Do not blink twice

He has to run and hide

Be quicker than

the other side

Pull the gun out

if you may

Pull the trigger

But they will always stay

Survival mode is on

But when he gets home

He can not turn it off

Paranoia and Instincts

That's all he's got

Come back to me Brave soldier

For I have forgot

What you were like

Before the Bomb Dropped
