Dan's POV

"Today is a new day! Get up, Dan!"

"5 more minutes, mom!" I said, groaning.

"I already gave you 5 minutes and that was 10 minutes ago, so get up. You want to make a good impression don't you. Especially in a new school," Mom said.

"Alright. Alright, I'm getting up. Can you make me some waffles?" I inquired.

"As long as you aren't late to school," Mom said, leading to the kitchen.

I got ready as well as I could. I needed to make a good impression. I need to make at least one friend today. I need someone to cling to so I won't be bullied.

I got on my favorite shirt and skinny jeans with a jacket unzipped. All black. My aesthetic is achieved today. Hopefully, this shirt with one of my favorite bands on it will help me get friends.

"Dan! Are you ready? You have 2 minutes to eat these waffles before we have to go!" Mom yelled.

Shit. I haven't straightened my hair yet. I guess I'll have to go natural today.

I run downstairs and start gobbling down the waffles.

"Slow down. You'll give yourself a headache," Dad said, amusement in his voice.

My dad is the cuddliest teddy bear I've ever met.

"Nfm Timf. Nemt to hurry," I said, my mouth full.

I finish, grab my bag, and run to the door. I slip on my shoes that are also black, matching my aesthetic.

"Bye! See you later," I yell, running out the door.

I walk down the road to my school. I see a lot of people together. Probably couples, with seeing drawings on themselves and their soulmates.

That was the weird thing about life on Earth. Everybody's soulmate can draw on their own arm and their soulmate would get an exact copy on their body in the same place.

I haven't found mine yet. But I will.

I walk into the school and I am taken back by how orderly it is. I've seen schools before and usually, they were just chaos. But here it was amazingly immaculate.

I walked into the office to receive my schedule. Great physical education first. The worst class in existence. Maybe I could get out of it.

Begrudgingly, I sulked all the way to the gym.

In there I walked up to the teacher and bluntly said that I wasn't going to participate today. Apparently, a lot of people did this because he just pointed to a group of people doing their own things and told me to sit there with them.

Maybe I will be inducted into their group.

I walked over there prepared to be rejected when one of them pointed at my shirt and said, "You like Muse?! That's my favorite band! Do you want to be friends?"

Everyone else laughed at him but I was grateful that someone had offered.

"I was kinda blunt, wasn't I. Sorry but do you want to talk at least first before I just assume you want to be friends?"

I took in his appearance. He had jet black hair that hung over his right eye slightly. He didn't look absolutely fit but he wasn't chubby either. He was a happy medium. Then I looked at his eyes. His eyes were gorgeous. They were mainly blue with flecks of different colors.

"U-um sure. I was hoping to make at least one friend today," I said, sitting next to him.

"Hi, my name is Dan. What's yours?"  I said, inwardly groaning at how awkward I was.

"My name's Phil," Phil said.

We sat in awkward silence for a few seconds before I was hit in the head with a basketball.

"Ow!! For fuck's sake," I said, groaning.

"Oh no! Do you want me to take you to the nurse?" Phil said, jumping up.

"Yeah?" I questioned.

"Let's go," Phil said, brightly.

We walk, talking quietly about our own lives.

"Wait. So when you were a child you thought periods were like a holiday retreat?" I asked.

"Yeah. It was even more embarrassing when I actually asked a teacher if another teacher had gone on her period holiday thing," Phil said, blushing a bright red.

"That's priceless. If any of the girls here heard you, you would probably be dead meat," I said, laughing.

"Are we near the nurse's yet?" I asked.

"Are you that sick of me already?" Phil said with mock offense.

"No no no. My head just really hurts," I said, panicking that I'd already lost my friend.

"I'm kidding, Dan. We are here anyways. Do you want me to come in with you?" Phil said, with amusement in his eyes.

"I mean is she scary? You can come in if she's scary," I said, heading in.

"I'll come then," Phil said, laughing, "plus I don't want to go back yet."

"Ok then come on," I said, laughing.

I sat down on one of those cots and laid down. Next thing I know Phil has taken two cotton swabs and stuck them in his mouth.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm Count Dracula and I'm here to suck your blood," Phil said, pretending to bite my neck.

"No! No stop. My neck is ticklish," I said, trying to protect my neck.

"Is that so?" He said.

I thought the onslaught was over but then he started tickling my neck and sides.

"Phil. Ha. Stop. Haha. Please," I giggled.

"Phil are you in here again? I thought I bandaged you up this morning already," said the nurse coming in.

"No its for my friend Dan here. He got hit in the head with a basketball," Phil said, suddenly stepping away from me.

"Aww. Does it hurt?" the nurse asked me.

"Only cause this buffoon made me laugh so much," I said, throwing the blame to him.

"Phil," she said, shaking her head.

"I'll just give you a Tylenol," she said, handing me a cup with two pills in it.

"Thanks! Phil, let's roll," I said, trying to be funny.

That's when Phil actually got to the floor and rolled out.

"Is he always like this?" I asked.

"Yep. Pretty much," she said.

I walked out to see Phil rubbing his left ellbow.

"Did Phil get hurt?" I asked, laughing.

"Shhh. I'll be fine," Phil said, getting up.

We walked back to class.

"Can I see your schedule?" I inquired.

"Yeah. Here," he said, handing me his.

I checked it, exclaiming in joy when I saw that we had almost all the same classes.

"Yes! We have almost all the same classes," I said.

"Do you like me that much?" Phil joked.

"Shut up. I just want a friend in all my classes," I said, laughing.

"Well you've got one," Phil said.

"Yeah. One," I said.

New book, who dis. I have so many ideas but I can't ever start them and get them finished. If I could I'd have like 20 books. But anyways I hope you like it!
