"Problem with part time jobs."

_____

The rest of the day went by quickly and soon, the school day was over. After school had ended, I hitched a ride with Lex to Teresa's.

Teresa's was the name of Alexia's mom's retro diner located in the centre of our town. It was a popular spot for Westbrook teens, especially as an after school hangout spot.

I was instantly greeted by people from school as Lex and I walked inside.

Lex was ahead of me and although I couldn't see her, I knew she was rolling her eyes.

"You're late for your shift, Alexia."

Lex had began working at her mother's diner during the last week of summer. Her mom claimed the new job role had something to do with knowing the value of hard work. A job serving people didn't seem all that awful to me, but for someone like Alexia Murphy who was a self proclaimed 'people hater', this was her hell on earth... she had tried to quit seven times on her first shift.

"If you've got a problem with my tardiness take it up with the owner." Lex retorts smugly to Hoover as we reach the counter.

Hoover Weston is someone I met at the beginning of summer. He had taken up a part time job at Teresa's whilst he was in school and even thought he was three years older than my friends and I, we still got along nonetheless.

A smile evades Hoover's face as his glasses framed caramel eyes fall onto me. "Oh hey, there's my favorite customer."

I return his smile, leaning forward against the counter. "Hey, Hoov. Can I please get-"

"One blueberry muffin, a strawberry shake with whipped cream and two cherries.." Hoover breezes through my order, a smug smile on his face. "..I know your order Penny, it's the same every single time."

"One day I'm gonna switch it up, and take you by surprise."

Hoover speaks softly, his eyes trained on me. "Believe me Pen, you don't need to change up your order to catch me off guard."

A loud scoff from Lex makes me turn to her. "I didn't realise my mother paid you to flirt with my friends."

"I was not flirting." Hoover responds almost instantly, his tone defensive. He sends me an apologetic smile before stalking off to prepare my order.

"Hoov's a nice guy. You don't have to be so mean to him." I reprimand my best friend.

"Why not?" Lex shrugs. "Men suck."

"Hey, Lexi."

A dramatic groan escapes Lex's lips. "Speaking of men sucking... what do you want Roggleham?"

Aaron Roggleham.

He was one of the guys the girls here at Westbrook Academy were obsessed with. The Roggleham's, even despite the unfortunate last name are a very gorgeous and popular group of people.

The only person who seemed to have a problem with him was Alexia. She couldn't let go of the fact that he left her at the alter. Imaginary alter that is, when they were nine and were supposed to marry with Ring Pops and be in love forever. But before this eternal partnership could happen, Davina Cordel used her witchcraft spells and black magic on the impressionable young boy and turned him against the supposed love of his life...
