I hurried down the hallway, bag on my shoulders. It was my first day in college and I was late.

Around me I saw a girls in groups gossiping and giggling at every boy that passed by. The bolder ones went right up to the senior boys and linked arms with them.

Few couple were standing behind pillars, catching hands, and whispering secrets. Some went to the extent of kissing and cuddling, never bothering to care about the world around.

The single ones watched those lucky couples with drool on their faces, dreaming of a day like this.

My hands went involuntarily to the locket around my neck. As I twirled the amethyst in my hand, I felt the sudden charge of dark power, rejuvenating me. No, I couldn't just sit and watch all these teenage shows. I had a greater mission.

How I longed to mix with them, enjoy life without a care for the world. But that was not to be.

The words of my mother rang in my ears, "Fiera you are not a normal teenager. You must always stay focused and loyal to our cause. You can't afford to fall in love, or enjoy life too much, so that you are distracted from your ultimate mission."

I let out a sigh and moved on. That was my life. I was cursed to be born into a family who had pledged their loyalty to the Dark Lord.

The Dark Lord practically owned me from the day I was born. If I ever try to betray him, or reveal my identity, that locket would engulf me in flames. Death was the only punishment in our world. There is no mercy for traitors.

But why was I thinking such things? I was a villain to the core. I had destroyed cities, decimated populations with these hands. I would never have to suffer the ultimate punishment, because I would always be loyal to my master.

I didn't see him coming as I was lost in my own thoughts while running. I felt someone colliding with me and we both were on the floor, our books and bag scattered everywhere.

"I am so sorry, miss. Are you hurt?" he offered a flustered apology and I looked at him. He was the emblem of perfection. His gorgeous cobalt eyes looked concerned as he offered me his hand.

Rejecting his hands I stood up by myself.

"I...I a...am fine," I stammered and cursed myself immediately. What the heck was happening to me? Why was I going so weak?

He was gathering all my fallen articles while I stood and admired his gorgeous form, all the muscles rippling with energy beneath his shirt. I could feel a surge of goodness around me and my amethyst turned cold. It does so when there is danger around.

Was he a danger? I didn't care.
He handed me my bag and said, "Jason here, I am really sorry,"

I gulped. Introductions were never my cup of tea.

"F-I-E..." I bit my lip, "F-I-O-N-A."
I was almost going to utter my name like a fool. I realized that my self-control was somewhat slipping around him.

"See you in class, Fiona," he gave an apologetic grin and was off in a jiffy.

Days passed and so did college. I enjoyed a lot, but always alone. Though he was wherever I was, giving me company. My locket warned me of danger every time, but I was too busy to care.

I had a feeling every time he was near. What was it that made blood rush to my face every time I see him, making my heart beat fast and my words to stammer? Was it love? But I could never be in love. I existed only for breaking hearts.

My evil-doings were going up daily. By the time two weeks had passed, we had already blown up three gas stations and burned down whole neighbourhoods. As the stories of the massacres flashed on the college TV, and the girls let out strangled cry at the gruesome sights, I silently chuckled to myself.

No one of my classmates knew, that the villain was sitting in their midst.

I absentmindedly twirled the necklace in my hand. I looked up suddenly to see Jason, some distance away, staring at me.

He looked away suddenly but I could see him frowning... Did he suspect something?

I was moving among the debris of the fallen buildings. Rubble was littered everywhere as I kicked them aside making my way. The glass cracked under my black boots. There were bodies everywhere, humans trapped underneath were screaming. There was a sea of blood as some lay dying.

I flinched at the sight. I was the cause of this destruction. I felt for my necklace under my dark cloak. It was radiating evil into me, making me feel proud and satisfied of my deed somehow.

Suddenly my eye caught a movement in the corner of one fallen structure. I saw a little blonde head, a girl peering out. Her face was pale, blood stained.

The locket had left no trace of mercy in me.

I took out my annihilation pistol and aimed it at the frightened creature. She stared in awe, unable to realise how fast death was coming for her.

Suddenly a terrible blast of energy hit me from the side and threw me on the floor. As I tried to get up, I saw a golden-masked person pinning me to the floor.

Damn!

Firebird was holding me in his iron grip. I squirmed in his hands, struggling to get free.
Firebird was the hero of the town, our only enemy. He had defeated and destroyed many of our kind.

I shuddered realizing it was my turn. But I was not someone to give up. I would die fighting.
I reached out for my gun, but he intercepted my move and twisted my hand behind me.

"Tell me who you are," he threatened.

Suddenly he froze.

His laser gun dropped from his hand and I realized that in the struggle, my mask had slipped off. He let me go.

And then I realized, I was burning. The flames from my amulet was spreading, engulfing me. Each and every cell of my body screamed for mercy as they burned in that fire.

In a second he was he was tugging at the chain of my amulet as I screamed from the pain of death. The charmed thing refused to break.

Finally he used his laser to melt the clasp and snapped it out of my neck.

I could see him crushing the amethyst in his hand. And I felt all the evil powers fade away from my body. I was in control of myself again.

I felt the flames subside. My dress was burned and so was my skin.

"Why did you save me? I am a killer," I panted.

He pressed a button on his wrist and de-morphed.

A pair of cobalt eyes replied softly, "Because I love you, F-I-E-R-A."

"J...Jason," I choked, as tears of happiness rolled down.
