6:15 am
The boy was startled awake by the same 7 rhythmic beeps of the door when it opened.
"I see you aren't anywhere near ready... I'll let this slide considering it's your first day. But if you aren't out of bed, dressed and standing in front of the door by 6:00... There will be punishment young man."
The same man who started off as a stranger was then his tour guide and now strictly giving orders.
The boy groggily nodded and trudged to the shower. Five minutes later he was dressed in light blue long pants and a white shirt a size too big, draping over his shoulder-light colours were the only choice in wardrobe-and walked behind the man.
They sauntered through the hallways, the boy having no indication as to where the man was taking him. The young boy tried his hardest to memorize the path they were taking, someway to begin to understand the directions of these halls. But it was utterly impossible, the hallways and doors were identical, plastered in white, with no signs or labels as to where to go. The only labels were those that belonged to the room of each door.
"Sir?"
The boy shyly brought the mans attention to a halt.
"Everything looks the same... So, how do you know where you're going?" Perplexed he questioned but the man didn't answer at first and kept walking, the boy hurried along to catch up.
"Appearances can be deceiving. To the naked eye everything looks the same, but it's little details here and there that help you navigate."
The man spoke looking straight ahead
"Hm... Are these hallways meant to train you to spot things you normally can't?"
The man simply smiled at his question and mumbled to himself, the boy however managed to make out what he uttered.
"He's a smart one..."
The sudden conversation struck a memory in him from the other day.
Since the aura between the two wasn't as tense as yesterday, he wanted to bring up the topic of the people being called 'subject'. But they arrived at two white doors.
"This is the room of nourishment... But you kids have been calling it 'the cafeteria'. Feel free to call it what you want, at the end of the day, it's still the room that keeps you from starvation." With that, the man gave him a light push into the room and left.
The boy understood why the other kids called it the cafeteria. The layout was a duplicate of a typical cafeteria you would see in highschool movies... But the appearance was nowhere near as pleasing.
The flooring was a cold gray, the walls a dirty white and the tables were metallic with gray, plastic chairs. On two sides of the walls was a literal row of what looked like bodyguards. The place was noisy but fairly quiet for a room filled with kids eating.
What seemed odd to him was the seating, it seemed the tables in the far back consisted of kids about 3 years older than him, and the table closest to where he was standing seemed to be children 2 years younger than him.
The boy cautiously roamed, nervous as to where he was supposed to go. The stinging sensation of the other kids staring at him as he walked around didn't help with his anxiousness.
