Chapter 1

The International Dance competition was something I had waited for all my life, especially because of all the stories my parents told me about when their dance team was there. It was such a huge competition, and I was so glad I was finally apart of it.

       There was only one problem.

My team was feeling very unprepared. We had a bit of a problem with a horrible teammate that ended up being kicked from the team and being a baby about it by posting most of our routines online.

The only one she didn't post was my male solo, since she wouldn't have been able to fill in for me so at least all of our dances didn't have to re-do all of our dances.

Most of them, yest. But not all.

One of the parts I wasn't looking forward to was the trip there. At first, I was excited when the competition was announced to be in Sydney, Australia. The last time I ever left the country was to head to our neighbouring country of Canada to visit Mom's relatives.

And that was seven years ago.

However, when I found out how long the flight was going to be, I wasn't going to enjoy it.

I had enough trouble living right beside my annoying cousin, and living in the same house as my annoying twin brother. Now I was going to be stuck with the both of them on a plane for twenty-two hours.

I tried convincing Dad to re-book me into first class because I was the most important person on the team, but he wouldn't go for it.

And to think, I gave him the greatest give of all; being born.

The worst part of all was that I was stuck between two lovebirds since I was assigned in the middle seat and they, for some reason, refused to switch with me.

I figured Rhys and Echo would want to sit beside each other but for some reason, they wanted me to suffer and be in the middle.

       I hated it.

And when I thought things actually couldn't get worse, it did.

By my twin brother and his girlfriend constantly flirting and ogling each other.

Come on, if they wanted to do that, they could at least sit beside each other.

I eventually got so fed up that I grabbed a magazine and held it up in front of Rhys's face. "Sorry, Echo," I said. "You're subscription to ogling Rhys has come to an end. If you would like for it to continue, switch seats with me."

"Aw, but I like the window seat," Echo said. "There's such an amazing view."

"Uh, hello? The true view is sitting right beside you," I said, which caused Rhys to rip the magazine out of my hand before smacking my arm with it.

"Don't flirt with my girlfriend," Rhys said.

"Technically not flirting since I complimented myself when you have the same face as me," I said. "I mean, I look better, but still."

Rhys just scowled before hitting me with the magazine once again, then dropping it into my lap. He was always so mean to me.

"Wow, I'm the nicest brother ever, and you treat me like this," I said. "All I want was for you to switch spots with me."

"I can't," Rhys said. "I need the aisle seat. It's all on Echo."

I looked over at my future sister-in-law longingly, hoping she would be nice enough to finally switch with me.

       She wasn't.

All she did was give me a smile before looking back out the window of the airplane.

I huffed and slumped into the seat, which didn't do much since there wasn't a lot of room in the first place. I should try to fall asleep, but that was going to be quite difficult in the middle seat.

I just didn't understand why these two lovebugs didn't want to sit beside each other. They could be all cuddly and snuggly when they want to fall asleep.

I tried finding a comfortable spot, but it wasn't working. Eventually, I had to take drastic measures.

       By bribing Echo.

       "Echo, I have a proposition," I said.

       "What is it?" Echo asked.

"If you don't switch seats with me, then Rhys will break up with you," I said.

       "Excuse you?" Rhys asked.

"You heard me," I said. "You're breaking up with Echo if she doesn't switch seats with me."

"Uh, no, I'm not," Rhys said.

"Don't worry, I'll switch with you," Echo said. "I just wanted to see you squirm for a bit. It's fun."

I glared at her before we switched seats. I always wondered why I ever had feelings for her in the first place. She ended up being as mean as my twin brother.

       They were a perfect match.

I was just glad I was now able to be in a comfortable spot to fall asleep for the twenty-two hour plane ride. I kind of wished the International Competition would have been somewhere where we didn't have to travel by plane.

Like Miami, and totally not because I lived in Miami and could have just stayed in the comfort of my bedroom, away from all these lovesick teenagers.

I closed my eyes, trying to get even the slightest amount of sleep, but it didn't help that I now had so much on my mind. I was so worried with us having to change most of our routines, and how I was now in two dances before the semi-finals, instead of just the normal one of me being in only the male solo round.

However, once we got in Australia where the competition was taking place, that was only going to bring out my competitive side a lot more. Most of the nerves were going to end up flying away, and I was going to be very prepared.

Nobody was going to take down D.A.N.C.E.

Nobody was going to stand in our way.
