Chapter 1

I was not in a good mood.

I was sitting in the back of Lydia's car with a book in my lap trying to read Out of the Easy, with a flash light hanging out of my mouth.

Lydia and Allison are lightly chatting, when Lydia turns the conversation to me.

"Em, are you seriously bringing a book on a date?" Lydia asks annoyed with me.

I pull the flashlight out of my mouth before I answer.  "Yes. I didn't know what we were doing."

"She put you in a mini skirt and did your hair, that's not enough for you realize she wants us to go on a date?" Allison muses.

I roll my eyes. I put the flashlight down, and bookmark my page. I then poke my head in between the seats. "First off it's Lydia she likes to dress me up in her quest to set me up with a guy, even though the only relationship I currently want is with a book and a bag of chips, possibly tumblr. Second of all I'm bringing something to do. I'm not making out with a guy who just wants to stick his hand up my skirt. I am reading a book about a teenage girl in the 1950s." I say proudly.

Derek is the only one I want to make out with and there is a slight problem with that equation.

"Also to remind you Lyd, I was not born in the 50s so that doesn't explain my attitude to random hookups." I add.

"For the love of God, Allison take that book out of your sister's hands before I throw it out the window." The strawberry blonde dictates.

I smirk. "I tried that once. I only remember waking up with a note on my face saying 'don't touch the book or I'll beat you with the goblet of fire and your doll from your 8th birthday gets it." Allison says with a small chuckle. I remember that we were in 9th grade.

I blush at the memory. I was an angry 14 year old. "Well it was a big book, you loved that doll, and we didn't know that our family had smoke grenades in the garage." I counter.

Lydia lets out a sigh. "Oh my God. I am never bringing either of you on a date again. But you are wearing a summer dress to school. I will not have my best friend dress like Stiles on the first day of school. Emily Argent is stepping up in the fashion world." She retorts.

  "Fine." I say in defeat.

Then flips a page in my book.

"So you admit it's a date." Allison says with a smirk.

"It's a group thing." Lydia replies in her defense.

"Do they know it's a group thing?" I ask with a smirk.

"Cause I told you that I'm not ready to get back out there." Allison adds.

"I'm not either. I have someone I like." And if I went on a date with someone, he might be beat in the morning.

"You were both in France and didn't do any dating for four months?" Lydia asked incredulously.

   "Did you?" Allison retorts.

"She means after..." I start but Lydia cuts me off.

"Do not say his name." Lydia snaps lightly. The wound is still fresh, meaning Jackson. I miss him a little bit but he and I were never on good terms. But I get it I would cringe whenever anyone mentioned Derek or something reminded me of him.

"Is he okay? I mean did everything work out?" Allison questions.

"Well, the doctors looked like total idiots when he turned up alive, but everyone got over it. And yes, Derek taught him the werewolf 101, like how not to randomly kill people during a full moon." Allison smiles over at Lydia. "So you've talked to him?" She asks.
