?prologue

The clean smell of lavender and vanilla was the first thing I noticed. I would have sighed in bliss, if only I was able to. I felt a cool sensation on my forehead, almost as if someone was pressing a damp cloth too it. I tried to turn my head to search for the coolness; only then did I notice that my body felt hot and stiff.

I tried to speak; to say hello, but the only thing that came out was a grunt. "Hey. Take your time. It's okay." I heard a smooth voice. I tried to force my eyes to open, but it felt as if they weren't complying due to the lack of sleep. The first thing I was able to move was my right index finger. As I did, I heard the person in the room stood to their feet. "Jin? Are you awake?" He asked.

I knew it was pointless to try to answer them. But that's the thing; who exactly was it in the room with me? "Yah! You just moved your head!" They stayed joyously. Did I? "Jin, can you hear me?" They said as I felt them lean into me more. Yes! I wanted to scream. Yes, I can hear you!

"Calm down, calm down. Your heart-rate is increasing too much." They said, as I suddenly heard the beeping of a heart monitor. "Just listen to my voice. I went through the same thing, Jin. Only, I was alone." He said as he returned the cloth to my forehead. "Take your time. Don't rush yourself. You're not alone." He said while continuing to move the cloth soothingly.

After what felt like a few minutes, I finally was able to open my eye, only slightly. I tried to look around the room, but I didn't see very much. "H-hello?" I spoke, but it came out almost unnoticeable. "Jin?" He asked with excitement. "Jin, can you see me?"

I blinked my eyes a few times before I was able to fully open them. I saw white sheets, soft as a cloud, laying on top of me, and a yellow blanket at my feet. I continued my gaze further down the bed, seeing the wall on the other side. It was all a crisp white, with a photo of a cactus that had a yellow flower sprouting from it. "Jin, you're eyes are finally open!"

I followed the voice to my right and saw a face that brought a smile to my own. "Jimin."
