Chapter 21: Holding on

*Maddie's POV*

As I walked out of the hotel I felt like a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Yes, I was in love with Harry but I hadn't ran away this time, I hadn't cried, I had stood my ground and I was strong. Yes, Harry and I could be friends and I would try my hardest to keep in touch with him but I had opened a new chapter in my life. Peter. I smiled as I walked towards the parking lot, it was starting to rain a little too so I had to get there quickly. Then, someone grabbed my arm and shoved me onto the parking lot. It was Kathy! Her big brown eyes looked crazed, and her hair looked like it hadn't been combed in forever. Wasn't she supposed to be the hair-stylist?

"Kathy, what the heck are you doing?" I asked. She was standing there, shaking of anger, I dunno but she was shaking.

"Everything is all your fault! I could've had, Harry! I could've been the one everyone talked about on Twitter, but you come back! You take Harry from me!! Me!? I'm gorgeous! Why don't you just drop dead!?" She asked and I stared at her,

"Kathy, calm down. Harry and I aren't dating anymore." I explained and she stared and shook her head,

"That makes it worse!! He still can't have you and he gave up on me! I have never truley despised anyone as much as I despise you! You're such a little slut! Do you even care about Harry?" I asked and I nodded furiously,

"Of course I do! Kathy, look I'm sorry Harry broke your heart but I have to go." I said and the rain was starting to pour down harder now, which meant my hair full of hairspray was gonna get soaked. Great. I started walking off but she grabbed my hand,

"No! No, you aren't going anywhere until you listen to me! I deserve Harry, not you!" She yelled and that's when I heard Peter call my name,

"Maddie are you coming?" He asked me and I turned to him,

"Yes, just wait!" I barely could hear or see him through the water. Kathy scoffed,

"So what? Now you think you can get anyone you want! Well, you can't okay!" She yelled and that's when she tightened her grip around my arm and she started shaking me,

"Let me go!" I yelled! This bitch was crazy! What was she trying to do, give me shaken baby syndrom?

"Oh let you go, why didn't you let Harry go! Huh! Huh?" She yelled hysterically shaking me more, I raised my arm and slapped her. I was breathing heavily as I watched her head whip back. When she recovered she looked up at me,

"You bitch!" And before I knew she pushed me. My feet slid off the curb and I flew into the street. Before, I was hit all I heard was two important voices both Peter and Harry screaming,

"Maddie!"

*Harry's POV*

OH MY GOD! Maddie had been hit! I quickly ran from the window sill I was looking through and ran out the hotel room. Who had pushed her? I knew she was having a conversation but I didn't see who with. My heart was pounding in my chest, oh my goodness!

I pushed open the revolving door and the rain poured so much my hair got soaked, I felt it run down my face. There were already people gathered around Maddie's body that was on the ground, but I didn't know who pushed her. In the middle was that boy I had seen her with shaking her, trying to get her to wake up. I pushed past the people and got into the middle. Her nose was bloody and she had a huge cut on the side of her head where she had scraped her head. I collapased on to my knees, staring at her. Even looking like this she still looked beautiful. I grabbed her head and put it on my lap.

"Did you call an ambulance?" I asked the boy and he nodded furiously. I stared at her and she looked so peaceful. I put my finger on her neck and heard her pulse, it was slow but it was there. Who knew for how long. I buried myself in her neck and started to cry. I felt hands on my shoulders and I looked up and saw Liam, Niall and Zayn. I returned to crying, how about if she didn't make it.

That's when I heard the ambulance coming. They were fast and there sirens echoed in my ear, I would remember that forever. The siren, knowing they were taking her away from me.

"Move, Move!" I heard the nurses and people yelling.

"Sir, we're gonna need you to move!" I heard. I looked up at them and tears were rolling down my face,

"I can't let her go." I said slowly and the man shook his head,

"I'm sorry." He started taking her from me but I held on tighter, I was getting more wet and so was everyone around me. In the rain was the first time I kissed Maddie, was in the rain going to be the first time I saw her alive?

"No!" I screeched, holding on.

"Harry, let go." Liam said and I shook my head and looked up,

"I can't Liam." I said,

"Dude, they need to get her better, let her go!" The boy that was with Maddie yelled. I looked up at him and shook my head and closed my eyes,

"Sir, we're going to have to call the police if you don't let her go right now. We need to save your friend." The female nurse said and I swallowed then looked at Maddie once again. I loosened my grip around her but held her hand,

"Can I ride with her?" I asked them and they both looked at each other and they sighed and nodded. They lifted her up on a gurney but I was still holding on tight and even in the ambulance when they were putting things in her arm and checking her pulse, I was still holding on.
