Scorched Words

@01-10-18, Olan L. Smith

Sappho's scorched words unearthed speak

The works of muses everywhere,

Who fears the lust of words established;

Life from clay, flesh to ashes.

Raise the poet to the heavens

Feel her passion touch the soul

And know whatever comes to light

Knew first simple darkness.

Touch my spirit immortal muse,

But abide your sisters

Who bear me as their brother;

Poetry is our strength.

Our blood is the liquid that binds

All with one, and the zephyrs'

Gust guide through mortal time completes;

I hear your gale thrash the sails.

I hear your gale thrash the sails
