"Don't worry Jordan, Leah brought someone so you're not a third wheel for the whole night"
"Oh, shut up Jonathon you ass"
"Just stating facts"
Jordan clenched his jaw, looking out of the car window from the back. His friend, Jonathon, sniggered from the wheel, not breaking his attention on the road. The girl next to him, Leah, punched his arm slightly in frustration. She leaned over, looking at the boy in the back.
"She is nice Jordan, don't screw this up"
"Yeah~yeah"
He boredly let his mind wander, as they neared the festival of New Years celebration. Jordan looked down to his hands, staring at the faint yellow glow that started to pulsate.
"Not now.."
He muttered to himself, Jonathon looking at him in the rearview mirror.
"Jordan, you okay?"
The boy's head shot up, looking in the same mirror. He nodded hastily, burying his hands into the inside of his coat, hoping the electricity would die down. the car stopped and one by one, they got out. Jordan took his hands from the warmth, still, there was a faint glow.
"Are you sure you are okay? You keep looking at your hands-"
"Yeah, I'm fine can we please go now"
Jonathon and Leah looked to each other in shock, as Jordan started to walk towards the festival.
"I wonder what has him in a twist"
The teenagers arrived from the car park to the festival gates, Leah pulling on Jordan's coat hood to stop. He did so, turning with his arms crossed.
"We are meeting her here"
He forgot about the one coming and scorned as he wasn't in the mood. All three waiting in the cold. The silence was soon broken when Leah exclaimed, hugging a girl that approached them. Jordan sniffed, readying himself to meet the stranger which he had no interest in at the moment. All the boy wanted to do was get tonight over with.
"Jordan~ this is Scarlett Foster"
Scarlett held her hand out for him to shake, the boy looking to her with slight interest.
"Hi Scarlett I'm Jordan White"
Both smiled to each other, Leah brightening as she saw the pair introducing themselves. Jordan and Scarlet looked to the others, who were staring at them. Jonathon cleared his throat, gesturing towards the entrance.
"Shall we go in?"
Jordan nodded, smiling to Scarlett as they both entered the market. It was busy, festive lights strung from stall to stall of jewelry or baked goods. The air was crisp, warm lights reflecting on Scarlett's auburn hair. They both stopped at a churro stand, Jordan standing awkwardly wondering whether he should offer her one.
"W-would you like one?"
Scarlett was looking around, looking at individual people. Jordan tapped her shoulder, making her head turn swiftly.
"What"
Jordan was taken back by the sudden turn of attitude.
"Are you okay?"
Scarlett nodded, looking behind herself. She coughed, spotting someone in the crowd that was looking back at her. The man's eyes skidded up to the boy looking at her with confusion. Scarlett acted fast, as she put an arm around Jordan, clearing her throat.
