Jungkook was tired of being constantly told to do housework. It wasn't like in the cinema, where you could whistle or sing or dance while doing the dishes; his step-family didn't allow for any unwarranted noise from the youngest. It would have been nice, and almost made the situation bearable, if Jungkook had been able to. Yet despite everything, the boy had managed to develop a fondness for music.

That was why, on the day of the ball that every person in the land was invited to, he was heartbroken to hear that no, his step-family would not allow him a single night of going out and not being miserable. This, of course, increased the feeling tenfold.

As soon as the others had left the house, Jungkook stopped doing what he'd been instructed to do (cleaning, could you believe it) and went outside to his favourite point in the garden. It was a small place with an overhang covered in beautiful flowers and open to the night air, allowing for an unparalleled view of the stars.

As he gazed up at the bright lights amongst the darkness, small tracks of warm tears lining his cheeks. It was then he noticed one moving, a shooting star to light up his lonely night. Jungkook made a wish;  he wished for just one day, one day filled with music and light and no responsibilities; preferably without his family and with a friend.

Jungkook closed his eyes momentarily and when he reopened them, the star was closer. It seemed to be flying towards him now.

Naturally, this made Jungkook a smidge frightened. He had read once that shooting stars were actually pieces of rock flying through the sky really quickly and he figured that if it hit him he'd be pretty injured if not dead. But, for a shooting star the size of this one, probably about the size a person, even if he ran away he 'd get hit.

So Jungkook sat there and watched at what he thought would be his inevitable and sort of undeserved doom. He was, of course, completely wrong.

The star slowed down as it approached him, the light still strong but weakening as it gave way to show the wide smile of a brown haired man somehow floating down to Jungkook.

"Hey, Kookie! I'm your equivalent of a fairy godmother, for now I'll call myself a godbrother because that seems less weird but if you ever want to change that to fairy friend and be away with the brother thing, please do so!" The smile got wider as the man landed on his feet and spoke in a deep voice; one that contrasted to the kind of childish way he was holding himself.

"Hello... nice to meet you?" Jungkook was sure he was slowly going into shock. He had a fairy godbrother/fairy friend? A pretty one too... It was difficult for him to stop staring, but the other didn't really seem to mind.

"So, I gather that you wanted to go to that ball thing?" The man rocked back on his heels and back again. "I mean, you were crying about it a little, right?"

Jungkook nodded, now feeling slightly embarrassed that he'd been caught crying by a stranger.

"Awesome! I'm here to make you happy, so I suppose I should help you go to that dance, huh. Though personally, I don't know why you'd want to go to a stuffy castle to dance with a group of people you don't know. Each to their own I guess!" The man was looking through the pockets of his long coat and black pants for something.

Jungkook wondered if he should reply, to defend himself to the other. His tone had seemed nice and nonjudgmental, but there was still the question of whether he'd help Jungkook if the latter made his opinion known. Instead, Jungkook went with the safe, "Thank you."

The man smiled up at him again. "Ah! Here it is!" He held up a small stick, one end glowing in the same soft silver light that he himself had glowed with a few minutes earlier. "Now, first thing that you'll need..."
