He yanked off the tape making me scream out and clutch my mouth in pain. The sound of his laugh as he left sent shivers down my spine. Then I was surrounded by darkness and all I could hear was my laboured breathing.

My eyes began to adjust and I could see seven other figures around the room. I opened my mouth to speak when something touched my hand. I yanked it back and yelped. Two eyes appeared from the darkness and stared at me. They reminded me of deer. Big, round and helpless.

“Hey.” She spoke. Her voice was soft and seemed to calm me a bit “It’s alright. Just calm down.” She took my hand again and I let her this time. My wolf could sense the danger around me and my body started to heat up to an impossible temperature. The cold concrete floor was starting to feel nice and once again she was trying to break free from her cage.

Let me out you stupid girl. She growled in my head. I could feel her throwing her body against the walls to try and get out but I kept strong

You can only wish. I muttered to her and she howled. It made my head spin and I leaned my head back against the cold wall

Stupid girl. Let me out. We must return to our mate. I kept silent deciding not to reply to her. It’s best if I didn’t let her free even though she would be able to break the chains. She would ruin everything.

I brought my knees up to my chest and hugged them tight. My eyes started to adjust to the darkness and I could see the outline of the other girls in the room. Just as I was about to speak up the basement doors swung open and light poured into the room burning my eyes. My gaze followed up the stairs to see a figure coming towards me

Isaac’s POV

I launched myself into a nearby wolf and he screamed out. My teeth sunk into his neck and I threw him against a tree where he curled up on the ground still in his wolf form. My head snapped around to another tracker who was shoving his nose into the floor and sniffing. His nose nuzzled the wet leaves out of the way to try and find her sent. My wolf stalked over to him.

Find anything? I asked him and he looked up at me.

Yes alpha. There seems to be a trace going towards the edge of your territory. I froze and looked over to the high hills. Just beyond them hills were neutral grounds. My mate wouldn’t be that stupid… My wolf was already moving before I could even think.

He launched forward into a run. It would take a couple of hours to reach there and my bete came up next to me.

Isaac. Calm down. You can’t go charging into neutral grounds without a plan. It would be a suicidal mission. My wolf began to slow as I took in his words. He was right. My beautiful, pure mate lay just beyond my territory and I would be stupid to charge in there without a second thought.

Whose territory is on the other side of the neutral land? I asked my alpha and we slowed down into a steady jog.

That would be Dominick’s alpha.

Contact him. I saw Kent roll his eyes and looked at me from the corner of his eyes.

That would be impossible Isaac. You know our packs have been in conflict for years now-

I don’t care. When it comes to my mate the arrogant alpha of another pack doesn’t matter. Kent nodded his head and turned to jog back to the pack house. I stared at the large hills studying them. I’m coming for you Lauren. I swear it on the last thing I do.
