♣️Chapter 31 🔞Truth To Self 🔞

Start from the beginning

Making a right turn, I drove through the park entrance making sure to park the car where it couldn't be seen. Both me and Levi exist out of the car and walk directly to the truck. "Levi, make sure you add the bricks on the inside of the carpet or else, the bodies will sink to the top."

Levi looks at me with questioning eyes. "You sound like you've done this before." He lifts one of the body's up and makes his way towards the lake. I take the other body, dragging it through the grass.

I gulp at his statement. "That's because I have."

Levi stops walking and turns to me. "What? When?"

"I'll tell you at the house."

Levi starts walking again. "Are you going to tell me everything?"

I sigh, taking a moment to process everything. "I'll tell you everything." Levi stops and throws the body into the lake. I do the same with the other body. We watched as the two bodies sink to the bottom of the lake, neither of us saying a thing.

"No more secrets." Levi finally says.

"No more secrets." I agreed. Levi takes my hand into his and together we walk back to his truck.

🌋

The night sky is dark and low, and the air is chill. Levi and I sat outside on his porch, the smell of weed blending in with the air. "Where do you want me to start?" I question, Levi.

"The beginning." He says, inhaling the blunt before passing it to me. Inhaling the blunt slowly, my system responds to the smoke. My lungs felt like they were being wrapped by a warm blanket. Taking small, slow draws of the blunt, I felt free. Tears dare to spill from my eyes, but I blinked them away.

"When I was seven years old, I witnessed my little sister, Jayda die at the hands of my father. Ford." I finally say. Levi looks at me taken back. "You see Ford is in a cult and for him to become the head of the cult, he had to kill his third child." I let out a humorless chuckle. "You would think that because she was only four he wouldn't do it. But being head of the cult is all Ford ever wanted in life. After he killed Jayda and made everyone watch, me and my brother Simon were basically trained to become like him."

"Where was your mother during all this?" Levi asks.

Taking a puff, I sigh. "My mother, Cassandra, was by Ford's side the whole time. She didn't care about us. If anything she never wanted us." Handing back the blunt to Levi, I lean back in my seat closing my eyes. "At the age of ten, I was already killing people. Ford would make me and Simon go out and kidnap people to join the cult, and if they wouldn't give in. We killed them."

"Did you guys ever try getting help?"

"We tried, but it never worked. Ford has always been a step ahead of us." Opening my eyes I turn to Levi. "My father has a thing for females, doesn't matter what the age he needs them. Because we have a lot of men in the cult, when a girl from the cult turns of the age fifteen they are married off to an older male."

Levi puts the blunt out. "Were you married?" He asks.

My head lowers. "Yes. I was married to a man called Jason."

"Did he rape you?"

I sigh. "He did. Being married to him, everything was forceful."

Levi's fist balls up. "I'm going to kill him." He says getting angry.

Chuckling, I kiss the palm of his hand. "Too late, I already killed him."

"When?"

"Stop asking questions and you'll find out."

Levi rolls his eyes. "Continue."

"After being married to Jason for almost three months, I got tired of it. I shot myself in the chest, hoping that I'd died. But sadly I didn't. In the town Rimgrove, we have doctors. Just not the highly trained kind. So Ford had no choice but to send me to an actual hospital. When I woke up and realized that I was in a hospital, I took that as my chance to run away. Leaving everything in the past... including my brother."

"Your past always comes back to haunt you."

I nod in agreement. "Yeah, I just wish I knew that sooner. As crazy as it sounds, everything in my life was quiet until we started dating. Jason tried to bring me back to Ford but I killed him and disposed of his body. Then he sends his disciples after me, bearing me more messages."

"Wait, is he responsible for the shooting at the bowling alley?"

I gulp. "He is. That's why I left, I didn't want him to hurt you or anyone else that I care about."

Levi pulls me into a hug. "He not going to hurt you or the ones that you love ever again. I'll fuckin kill him before he does."

My head shakes, in a disagreeing manner. "You don't know him like I do Levi. He's not just someone you try and kill. He has people. People that will do everything in their power to make sure Ford and his legacy live on." Levi says nothing. "Levi promise me that you won't be stupid and go after him." He still doesn't say anything. "Promise me!" I say, grabbing ahold of his hand.

He stares me in the eyes, before sighing. "I promise."

I plant a kiss on his soft lips, then pull away. "I love you, Levi.

"I love you too." Right at this moment, I felt something I haven't felt in a while.

Hope.
