Chapter One

Twilight Complications:

(Hunter's POV)

"Kaylie, what are you doing?" I ask, as she pulls at my hair.

"I'm making you pretty." She mumbles, and takes a bobby pin from her mouth and sticks it into my hair.

"I can't be pretty." I mutter, and begin to pull away from her.

"STOP. I'M ALMOST DONE." She demands loudly, and grabs my shoulders to bring me back. She sticks a final bobby pin in my hair, and then steps back.

"Look how fucking gorgeous you are!" She squeals excitedly, and spins my chair around to face the mirror.

The hair, looks amazing. Just not on my face. The makeup looks amazing, just not on my face. I bite my negative comments back. "Thank you, McKaylie."

"Say it."

"Say what?"

"I'm gorgeous." She instructs.

I groan, and bite my lip ring. "I'm gorgeous," I say quietly, turning away from the mirror. She frowns, but doesn't say anything. She walks to her bed and grabs a bag from underneath it and brings it to me.

"I got you something." She smiles, and pushes the gift toward me.

"Kaylie what did yo-"

"Just open it, Hunter." She instructs and I sigh. I take the paper out from on top and pull out a Nikon camera and gasp. Kaylie is smiling cheesily.

"This had to cost you a fortune! Are you serious?" I jump up and hug her around tightly. "You're the best, oh my god."

"I know, I know, but it's your birthday and you deserve it and so much more." She smiles and purses her lips. "Plus I thought maybe you could take it around and take pictures whenever you decide you want to travel. You know, like we've talked about." She looks at me hopefully and I nod, still jumping up and down excitedly.
"Of course, of fucking course!"
"Now stop jumping, you're messing up your dress." Kaylie demands, pull down the bottom of the dress to flatten it out. I look across the mirror to my flushed face. Downside of being pale? I glow like I have Rudolph's nose on either cheek. The dress is a beautifully laced low v-neck. The back wasn't really a back, it had thin strings of fabric going across. I guess the designer thought; the more you see the better. It was all black, which is the only reason I'm wearing it. That and Kaylie bought it for me and insisted I go to this party.

I take a small look at the mirror, and realize I'm not wearing any of my piercings in my ears, so I sit back down and take out my jewelry. I put three silver studs on each ear to match my loop lip-piercing. "Come on, the party started 30 minutes ago."

"But I look like shi-" I try to protest but she shakes her head.

"You look perfect." She smiles. "Now come on!" She grabs the skin above my elbow and drags me to the car. I get in the passenger seat and mess with my hair, before deciding to take it down. I pull out the bobby pins and Kaylie let's out a pitched scream.

"I SPENT TWO HOURS ON YOUR HAIR AND YOU'RE TAKING IT DOWN?" She slams on the breaks and I go face-first into dashboard.

"Kaylie, oh my god, I think you broke my face," I say dramatically.

"TWO HOURS JULIET HUNTER YOUNGBLOOD."

"That sounds like a personal problem." I smirk and she glares at me. At this point and time, cars honk behind us.

"Kaylie, get back on the road." I say softly.

"The party is a mile from here."

"Don't you dare say what I think you're going to say."
