I looked back at Chloe once more. Watching her sing. I teared up a little. I turned back and walked in further to the light, and towards the still figure that stood in front of me. I began to hear Chloe's sobs as I walked further away from my lifeless body.
"What took you so long, Caulfield?" said the figure. They held out their hand for me to grab. I did. I was dragged into the light.
Suddenly the light faded away, and I saw a valley with green hills, yellow sunflowers, a big blue sky. Everything was still and beautiful.
I turned my head to the left to see whose hand I was holding.
"You did the right thing, Max." Rachel smiled, bringing me into a hug. I accepted.
"I believe you." I whispered into her ear.
"You'll see eachother again soon, okay? She used her thumb to wipe away my tears. "There's no need to cry."
"I know." I sighed. "It was all for my best friend."
"You two were so much more than best friends, Max. Never forget that she was the first person you fell in love with."
