"Boy!" Henry Laurens called up the stairs. "Come on, runt, or I'll drag you down by your miserable hide!"
Probably another lecture or beating. Oh boy.
John sighed, preparing himself to go hide in his closet and cry again. He walked down the stairs to see his father holding a letter.
"This came in the mail for you."
John, surprised, took the letter and read it.
He was a wizard?
Him. A wizard.
But.. he couldn't be. He's John. Just John.
But then again.. it does explain the insane 'karma' that comes with angering John.
"Can I go, dad? Can I?" He pleaded.
His dad sighed a bit angrily. "Fine. I'll be rid of you for long enough, then. Pack your trunk, runt. We've got a train to catch, then."
John's eyes lit up. For the first time, his father was doing something nice for him.
"Thank you! Thank you!" John said, hugging his father.
"Don't keep me waiting, you horrid little thing! Hurry up! We leave in an hour."
John nodded and rushed upstairs.
He would finally have time away from this constant abuse.
