Chapter Twenty-Three

Start from the beginning

"I'll be back for lunch, okay? It's just a few hours." He started to whimper. His body started to shake, as if trying to hold back his tears. I didn't know what he wanted, and he wasn't speaking up about it. "Do you want to stay with me in the office?" He contemplated that thought for a while before finally nodding his head. I've been sighing very often, trying to understand my broken lover. It hasn't been easy, frustrating and stressful more than anything, but I love him. He deserved all the love and attention in the world after everything he's gone through. "Okay, come on. Gaviil is waiting in the car."

He lets go of me but not for long. After he securly holds our little son in one arm, he tightly holds my hand. We walked out the nest where my sleek, black Bugatti Galibier waited for us. Gaviil had a peculiar look on his face, having been surprised that Ombre was coming along too. I just shrugged my shoulders, not really needing to give an explanation. "Have a few men bring some of Owen's things to my office: Yamaha keyboard, laptop, headset, the essentials."

"I'll notifiy them right away, Sir."

I opened the door for Ombre to get into the back of the car before getting in the other side. After a few minutes, Gaviil got into the passener seat, and we were on our way to my office. During the ride, he took out his iPad, reminding me of different meetings I had this afternoon. I already knew what my schedule was like, but he wanted to remind me just to be sure I didn't forget. It was going to be another typical day at work. There were going to be meetings, signing or declining contracts, calls from clients and business partners; it was going to be exhausting. I'm going to die of boredom before dying of old age.

"Are you listening?" Gaviil's stern voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, whatever." I mumbled, resting my right cheek on Ombre's head. It didn't seem to care since he was too busy playing Two Dots on his phone.

Gaviil started to lecture me about how I'm supposed to be a responsible CEO who should always be at the top of his game. He said some other things, but I wasn't going to listen to all of that. We made our way into the building once we arrived.

"Good morning, Mr. Vasiliev." The one of the women at the front desk stated, batting her eye lashes. Her eyes shifted to my angel, and I saw the disgust and envy in her eyes.

Ombre wasn't paying much attention, holding our boy in one arm and playing on his phone with the other. I wrapped my arm around my lovers slim waist before glaring at her to watch where her god damn eyes were looking. He jolted in surprise and looked up at me in confusion with scrunched eyebrows. I just kissed his forehead, hoping he wouldn't ask questions and just let it go.

On the elevator ride, Ombre put his phone in his pocket and leaned his body against me to get my attention. "What was that?"

"What do you mean?"

"You know—the possessive grabbing—the gentle kissing to try and play innocent." He imitates what I did give minutes ago, but it was in a more comedic and exaggerated way.

"Ha-ha." I stated with the lack of humor in my voice. He just giggled and hid his face in our chocolate colored rabbit. "I was just trying to put the woman at the front desk in check. I didn't like the way she was glaring at you in disgust.

"I don't mind, Lief. It's not a big deal. People have their opinions even if they're bad ones. I'm not going to go crazy over it. It's their problem, y'know?" He smiled.

Ombre was an angel like that. He was open-minded, caring, relaxed, and didn't let others get to him. It'd been hard for him to be happy, and I couldn't do anything to fix it. I'm so fucking glad he was smiling right now. I practically saw angel wings and a halo.
