Soon enough I was 35 weeks pregnant and I felt like an elephant. Asa insisted I looked beautiful but I laughed and didn't believe him. My mom decided that I had to have a baby shower for little Ellen and Analiese. It took us a while but we finally decided on the perfect names for the babies.
It was July and Sadie and her husband, Max, where visiting for a week over the summer with their 4 year old son, John, and 2 year old daughter, Maggie. Aspen was home too as well as Asa's parents, Madeline and Joel, but Joel and Asa were going to go out so just the girls were at the shower because I knew Asa didn't really care. A bunch of my close friends were coming as well. At eleven everyone started to come. My mom and sisters and Madeline were at the house already helping setting up.
"Ready for this?" Sadie said taking the food out of the refrigerator.
"What? The shower or the babies?" I laughed.
"The babies you dork," Sadie joked.
"If I'm honest, I'm freaking out and excited. What if there's something wrong? What if-" I said but Sadie cut me off.
"Har. Everything is going to be fine. You're going to have two new beautiful baby girls in a month. They're going to be fine. You're going to be fine." She reassured me and put her hands on my shoulders.
"Thanks. I'm ready for them to be here."
"Yeah. I know the feeling." She sighed.
"Thanks Sadie." I hugged her as best I could with my pregnant belly.
"You're welcome little sis." She said. Then Myla ran over with little tears coming out of her brown eyes.
"Oh no Myla!" I exclaimed.
"Owie." She said and stick her finger up to show me which she had gotten a paper cut.
"Myla. Come here let's get a band aid." Sadie picked Myla up and put her on the counter.
"Kiss da boo-boo" Myla said to me with her big puppy eyes.
"Of course," I kissed Myla's little finger and put a bandaid on it.
"Tank you Mommy." Myla said as Sadie put her down.
"Aw you're welcome sweetie. Now go play with Maggie." I smiled.

When all of the guests had gotten to the party we ate and played some games. Then Mom insisted that I opened my presents.
"Okay okay." I chuckled.
"Okay," Mom handed me one which was from Sadie, which I pulled out of the gift bag.
"Aw Sadie!" I exclaimed as I looked at the adorable little binkies, outfits, and bows inside, "thank you."
"You're welcome." Sadie smiled.
"Okay Har. This one is from me." Mom handed me a large box wrapped in pink polka dot wrapping paper which I tore off and opened the box. Inside we're two beautiful blankets that my mom had made.
"Oh my gosh Mom! Did you make these?" I gasped.
"Yeah. And when the girls are born I'll embroider their birthday next to their names." She explained.
"I didn't even see that!" I turned the blankets and on the corner of each was the twins' names embroidered in brown thread on the soft pink fabric.
Ellen Katherine Gaines
Analiese Cordelia Gaines
Mainly I was hormonal and also I loved the blankets so much I felt tears in my eyes. "Mom thank you so much. These are beautiful." I cried. Just as Mom hugged me I felt a pain in my stomach. Probably just a kick, I thought.
"Har are you okay?" my mom asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Thank you again mom." I said and got up to get a drink of cranberry juice when I got an even bigger kick or pain. I cringed over in immense pain. Then I realized my water broke.
"Oh gosh." My mom rushed over and helped me.
"We got to get her to the hospital," Madeline said.
"Someone please call Asa." I said before having another contraction.
