why are we all

so damaged

and so broken

and hurt so much

why is it that pain

and sorrow

should unite us

and we all harbor

these metal weights

upon our backs

that make us drag our feet,

hunch our backs

and alter our posture

so that we cannot

look up to the sun

or look at the faces

of our

fallings brothers and sisters

but so that

we can only look

at the

hard

gray

cement.

why should we normalize these feelings?

do you want our children

to ache

the way that we do?
