I watched Demi's eyes fill with tears when I told her the pregnancy test was negative. My plan worked. I knew she would want more kids. I saw her chin trembling & I went to put my arms around her waist. "What's wrong, Baby? I thought you didn't want to be pregnant again." I said before I kissed her cheek.

Demi wiped at her tears & chuckled as she narrowed her eyes at me. "Okay, you were right. A part of me wanted it to be positive." She rolled her eyes as I smiled, smugly at her. "You happy now? You know me better than I know myself. Deep down..." her chin quivered as she tried not to cry again. "I wanted to be pregnant."

I let go of her & bit my lip as I looked down at her. A huge smiled took over my face & the look she gave me made me laugh. "Well that's good.... because you are." I said, not able to contain my excitement.

Demi stared at me, her mouth falling open, slightly. "What?" She asked, her face looking a little confused with a little irritation.

I let out a laugh. "I pulled a Phoebe. I lied because I knew deep down you wanted to be pregnant again someday." I held the test up to show her. Phoebe was a character on the tv show Friends & she pulled a similar stunt on an episode, which had given me the idea.

Glaring at me, Demi snatched the test from my hand to examine it. Her eyes were filled with more tears as she looked up at me. For a moment, I wasn't sure if she was going to punch me or hug me. Finally, her mouth turned up in a smile, then kept going until the beautiful toothy grin, I fell in love with, took over half her face. "I'm pregnant?" She asked in excitement.

"I'm no doctor but that's what the test says." I couldn't stop smiling if I tried.

"You're so fucking proud of yourself right now, aren't you?" Demi remarked, laughing as she wiped tears from her cheeks. I grinned, nodding my head. "We're gonna have another baby." Demi said as she threw her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her so tight, I probably could have hurt her. "I'm scared." She whispered in my ear.

I moved her to look into her face. "I know." I moved my hand over her hair, then caressed her cheek with my thumb. "I have a feeling everything is going to be okay. Promise me you aren't going to worry about something that is out of your control."

She let out a short laugh. "Oh, sure. I never do that." I responded with a smile & a roll of my eyes. "I will try, but I have a feeling you are going to be doing a lot of talking me down from an emotional roller coaster."

I let out a chuckle as my head fell back. "Great." I kissed her nose, then her mouth. "I will be with you every step of the way & I will hold you up the entire time, no matter what happens." I kissed her again. "But you are the most amazing, strongest woman I know, so you will be just fine. I love you so much."

"I love you, too & don't ever lie to me again."

I laughed as I pulled her into my arms to hug her again. We finished getting ready & Demi called her doctor to set up an appointment. We weren't going to tell anyone for a while. We needed to make sure everything was okay & no more sad things happened.

The following week, on February 3, 2023, was Demi's first prenatal appointment. While we waited in the exam room for the doctor, Demi gasped. I jumped, lunging at her to see what was wrong. "I can't do the movie." She said, her hand covering her mouth.

I breathed a sigh of relief. "Jesus, don't do that. You scared the crap out of me. Relax. The movie starts filming in early March & you probably won't be showing that much yet." I watched her calm down, with a smile. "And maybe I'll call them & see if they want to move up production since they had moved it back to work around the pregnancy." My voice trailed off, thinking of Demi's other pregnancy. I wonder how long it would be, before even mentioning it, wouldn't be like a stab in the heart.

Demi pressed her lips together, frowning a little as she nodded. Her eyes met mine. "What if they don't want to have a pregnant lady on set."

I couldn't help but to laugh at her. "Babe, there are pregnant people on production sets all the time."

"Maybe they won't want a pregnant woman playing the lead."

"We don't even have to tell them. I mean we want to keep this quiet for as long as possible anyway, right?" I took her hand to kiss it.

"I guess we don't have to say anything." Demi said just as the doctor came into the room.

"Well." Dr. Anderson smiled. "I guess you never got that birth control started, did ya?" He chuckled as he headed to the sink.

Demi & I both laughed. "No. Can't say that I did." Demi replied. "Is it too soon to be pregnant? I read online that sometimes pregnancies right on top of each other can do damage to the body."

Dr. Anderson nodded, shrugging his shoulders as he dried off his hands. "Sometimes, but it's mostly due to the stretching of the uterus. Your uterus didn't get to stretch as far as it should have, so you shouldn't have any problems. Your delivery had no complications & your 6 week checkup was all good. I don't see you having any issues." He smiled as he stood next to Demi.

"You didn't see any last time." Demi responded, quietly. The doctor's face softened as he let out a breath.

"Those kinds of things aren't usually detected early enough, sad to say. But there is one issue we will have."

Demi looked at me, her eyes wide, then back at the doctor. "What?" She asked in a panic.

"Well, since you never got an actual period, we need to determine your due date some other way." He held up an ultrasound wand that went up to the uterus through her vagina. I remembered it from the last pregnancy. "With this, I'm going to see if I can see anything at all & that will help determine your due date. Unless you know exactly when you had sex?" He chuckled.

Demi let out a nervous laugh. "Probably new year's eve." She answered, looking up at me, sheepishly. I felt my face get warm as I smiled down at her.

Dr. Anderson laughed, loudly. "Was that the only time?"

Demi blushed. "That was the first time. We did it on New Year's day, too & then after that we didn't do it for four or five days. Nick & his band had a few shows in L.A. for a benefit concert, so uh yea, we didn't get to um do it." Demi let out another nervous laugh. I shook my head as the doctor glanced in my direction.

"Well, then I guess it's safe to say this baby was conceived on New year's eve or day." He got situated between Demi's knees. "But I'm going to check things out anyway, to see. If that is when your egg was fertilized, then we'd probably be able to see or hear the heartbeat by now." Dr. Anderson got quiet as he did his thing on the keyboard & with the wand. Demi & I held our breath until we saw the tiny flutter on the screen. I looked at Demi & tears were in her eyes. I put my arm over her head & leaned in to kiss her temple.

"I love you." I whispered against her forehead.

She smiled, nodded & covered her mouth as the tears came. Dr. Anderson finally spoke. "Yea, there it is. Your baby has a good strong heartbeat. Can you see it?" He turned to look at us & we both nodded. He clicked a few things, punched a few buttons, then removed the wand from Demi. After he put everything away, he took out his laptop. "You'll be seven weeks tomorrow & that puts your due date as September 23."

Demi made a "aww" sound as she looked at me, her mouth turned down in a happy frown. "It could come on your birthday, babe."

I leaned to kiss her forehead. "Yea, it could."

We finished up at the doctor & headed home. I was so happy, I couldn't stop smiling. I was so happy that Demi was smiling again & starting to heal after losing Delaney. Our lives were good again. We were perfect again. We were forever.
