Three years ago, I was laying in a hospital bed. It was almost midnight and I was still wide awake due to how stinky the hospital smelled. The sound of wheels from stands of IV bags—It didn't want me to sleep.
I spent my night scrolling through my newsfeed and liking status and then you came along. You, with your text message saying, "Hi".
I didn't know that texting back to you for twenty minutes and beyond would change my whole damn universe. You opened up a new dimension for me and I gladly head inside, not even thinking that you might have hidden a sweet evil grin the moment I entered.
Inside it was heaven and hell. Heaven, because I was with you and it felt so happy. Hell, because I know I was losing my innocence but suppressed them down. I learned different views and I cursed out at how frustrated I was.
It was getting worse.
In that new universe you and I created, I became that confusing and indecisive creature. An ego who was always in between an id and superego. I battle with demons and angels every single day. I lost track, I drowned and was still submerged under.
A tear arise as I watched you from under the water... leaving me.
I screamed, "No! Don't leave!"
But to my dismay, only bubbles you could see from the surface. What have I done? What has loving the wrong person done?
I was all soaked up as I slowly close the door I spent a year in. I kneeled outside as I break down and cry. I shouted so loud. I'm really mad and upset and slowly insane.
I tried to fix myself and do the things I used to do. To my surprise, I can still write but it didn't have emotions anymore. My words were filled with anger and even I couldn't stand it.
At last I decided, karma takes too much time from waiting for the perfect moment. It's time I play karma.
This time, it's me who texted him. It's me who asked him out. It's me, an addled creature did. Bad apple is the new shade I prefer, it's his time to taste them poison.
With one look I got him. I played his chess game. I rode with his rollercoaster mind. I played the same chords he did.
And the moment I've waited came, kissing his lips under the wild sunset is my favourite part of the day. His tongue inside my mouth and exploring every bit of my poison make me happy. I'm slowly killing someone who I once loved.
He stopped and looked into my eyes. No word escaped his mouth but I know what his eyes are saying. I stared at those ocean eyes of him.
"That's right, love. Look at how wild my hazel eyes are. Look at the eyes of someone you killed," I hissed and pushed him to fall down the cliff we're at.
I cried as I look at my hand. I was shaking and sobbing. I screamed and grip on to my hair. I dug my fingernails deep in my skin.
I killed his love because he killed mine. What love do I have to have done this?
After being crazy I walked out that universe. I let it wreck with tears and my vengeance. This time, love was evil.
I came back to the real world. I was out of the hospital bed and now sleeping peacefully in a softer bed and a more silent surrounding.
I looked at myself in the mirror and stared at nothing. Why am I such a wreck when I finally got what I wanted? I won but why does it seem to keep bringing me back to him?
*vibrate*vibrate*
I turned to look at my phone on the side table. It was his face that appeared. What does he want this time?
I answered it and brought my phone to my ear. What is he calling for? Does he want another war?
"Hi, I'm sorry to call you like this but I miss you," he said. I could almost feel how sad he is through his voice.
I didn't want to lie.
"I missed you too," I whispered and my tears fell as fast as they could.
We talked about how we loved and how we hurt each other. We talked about the universe we went to and the games we played. We laughed about how we went crazy. We cried at this moment when the time was so fast and the call was now 19 minutes.
"So this is good bye? Can't I extend ten more minutes?" He asked, sniffing and trying not to break down like me.
"We've seen how we can be and we can never be. We only end up hurting each other and I don't think I can ever survive another..."
I stopped and covered my mouth. I didn't want to say the word but I have to. "Good bye, love. And I'm sorry if our last call can't go beyond twenty minutes."
I put down my phone. Three years ago, I fell inlove with someone in twenty minutes and beyond. Now, I'd fall out of love with him twenty minutes and never beyond.
