Chapter Two

Patricia was filling in her homework at the last moment at the kitchen table, when Lewis came down. "You should've done that yesterday," Lewis said, in the 'I told you so,' voice. Patricia shot him a glare, and then went back to her homework.

"What do you want for breakfast?" Lewis asked, walking over to the refrigerator. Patricia looked up at Lewis, and gave him a hint of a smile. Lewis knew right away that she wanted poptarts, so when she didn't answer, he just put the poptarts into the toaster.

"I'll be back," She said, without even explaining on where she was going to. She got up from her seat, and went upstairs.

"Alex," Lewis called, "If you want breakfast, you better get it now!"

Alex came down the steps in an un-ironed uniform- navy blue pants, a white polo shirt, and a navy blue tie. Alex didn't even bother to ask Lewis to get him anything; he just got the cereal down, and made himself breakfast.

Lewis and Alex both sat there eating breakfast, when they heard Patricia scream. Lewis and Alex looked at each other quickly, and then ran upstairs. "Tricia?" Alex called, "Tricia?"

"I can't believe it," Patricia yelled from the bathroom.

"Tricia, we're coming in," Lewis told her, pushing the bathroom door open a little. Patricia stood there staring at the big pimple on her forehead. She looked like she was about to cry, until she did start to cry.

"Sis, it's just a pimple," Lewis muttered, "It's alright."

"Alright? Alright?" Tricia screamed, as she spun around to look at her brothers. "This is no more all right. I'll be the laughing stock of the school. I should just stay home today."

"You can't stay home," Lewis argued, "Just cover it up with hair, and then finish getting ready. Your poptarts are probably finished by now."

"You are SO inconsiderate!" Patricia screamed, before breaking into a sob, and then slamming the door in her brothers' faces.

"Smooth," Alex muttered, before shuffling back down the steps. Lewis looked at the bathroom door, and then back at the stairs. He growled under his breath, and then walked back down the stairs.

Lewis put all his school supplies into a bag, and then Patricia came back downstairs. "I'm sorry I screamed," She whispered, and her voice was a little shaky. Her cat green eyes looked shaken, and freaked out.

"What's wrong?" Lewis asked her, putting his hand on her shoulder. Patricia looked around, and then burst into tears. She ran into Lewis with a big hug, and cried into his chest. "Patricia? What is it?"

She sobbed, and when she was done, she pulled away, and walked away. "Tricia, come back," Lewis commanded, but she continued to walk. Her curly strawberry blonde hair trailed behind her as she walked into the kitchen. "Tricia!"

"Can't talk Lewis," Tricia snapped in a blubbered voice, "What was for breakfast?"

Lewis watched as Patricia walked right past her poptarts, and right to the cereal. "Why are you crying," Alex asked with a mouthful of food.

"I'm not crying," Patricia snapped.

"Oh really?" Alex said, "Yeah, I believe that."

"Oh shut up, Alexander," Tricia hissed.

"After you, Patricia," Alex shot back.

"Guys stop!" Lewis shouted over the both of them. They both looked at Lewis, and with a sad look on their faces. Alex looked hurt, and angry, while Tricia had tears running down her cheeks. "Tricia, what is wrong?" Lewis asked.
