"I just wanted to call you, for some reasons."

"Hmm." I adjusted myself, sitting up with my back against the headboard to keep myself from feeling too sleepy. "I wish you were here with me."

"Day three and you're already missing me." She had always been the teasing type and frankly, I don't mind it at the moment.

Silence crept in and it's making me wonder whether or not she had some things to say before she called because she seemed like she was completely unprepared for a conversation. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she called for no reason at all. I appreciate it but it did wake me up.

I blinked, still staring at the sceneries outside as I await her words. She knows that I'm not much for words.

"Is it a clear night, where you are?"

"Yes."

"Good, mine too." If it were possible, her voice is growing softer and gentler. I'd really love to sleep. "It's nice to look up to the skies and you know the person on the other line is looking up too."

I chuckled quietly, feeling the smile on my lips as I do. "How'd you know that?"

"Otherwise you wouldn't be able to tell if the night skies are clear or not. Simple things to conclude about."

I exhaled, blowing off wind with a slightly howling noise. "You're quite fond of doing that."

"Well, I wasn't the best in research in school for nothing." She gave out a forced chuckle and continued. "So anyways, I'm sorry I woke you up. And you really sound tired so I guess I should--"

"Don't," I said. She'll hang up and I don't want that. I licked my lips first. . . "Stay up with me for a while."

My eyes had already adjusted to my wake-up mode so I probably wouldn't be able to sleep until later.

I didn't want to think about the choice I've made as I might regret it. I honestly do not want to regret it.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Great."

Conversing was easy for me when it's someone already close, Cara, granny, some of my siblings. With Taylor, I do feel comfortable but I never really knew what she liked.

"Tell me a secret," I said once it occurred to me that she is an open book to her family, sometimes to me. "Tell me one secret even your family doesn't know."

"Like?"

"Any secret," I replied.

There was a slight pause, I could even imagine her biting her lip as she sunk into thought.

"Okay, I got one. . ." She sighed. "I have uh, been to an mall jail. Detained for a night."

That woke me up from my sleepy state far too quicker than I could comprehend. I blinked a few times, trying to think if I heard it right. That is one of the last things I know she'll experience but. . .

"Please repeat that."

She laughed, "Don't tell my parents, they'll freak out."

"So it's true?" I don't believe it. It has to be mistaken identity or something. "Why?"

"Weird story," she replied. "That was like two years ago. I was looking for this gift for Scott --" she paused, long enough for me to notice the name. With that kind of pause, I can only conclude that Scott is her ex. "-- I'm sorry, where was I?"

"Uh--"

"Never mind. So anyways I was in the department store, I chatted up this guy who had a cool shirt at the time and I asked him which aisle he bought it from. He told me to ask the cashier and I thought he was that nice because he even accompanied me."
