"Nico?"

"Hm?"

"I love you."

"I love you, too."

We continued to sway and Nico leaned upwards, pressing his lips on mine.

When he pulled away, I sighed happily.

"I really want to stay like this forever."

Nico's expression suddenly fell, a sad look in his eyes.

"What's wrong?"

He shook his head and pulled me out of the crowd.

"I really need to talk to you."
That doesn't sound good.

I followed him outside.

He sat down at a table, gesturing at the seat across the table.

I slid into the bench and took his hands.

"What's going on?"

He cleared his throat.

"Percy, for a couple months now, I've been in contact with my father. We've been communicating and he's in town right now. We... We met up..  He's more understanding than my mom... He... He accepts me."

I watched him, my excitement growing.

Nico finally had blood family.

He swallowed hard.

"Percy... I'm a minor... I have to be staying with a parent or guardian. I love your mom and stepdad, but it's not legal for me to be living with you. So... I have to move in with my dad."

I didn't see what was wrong with that.

If anything, this is great.

They could catch up on the years they've been apart.

"That's amazing, Neeks!"

He closed his eyes and I saw a tear roll down his face.

"Percy, my dad.... He doesn't live nearby. He lives.. In Greece..."

My heart shattered.

I felt it be ripped apart by those words.

Nico's leaving me.

He's leaving New York and all our memories.

He's leaving his past.

He's leaving.

At this point, tears started their way down my face.

I stood up and pulled Nico close to me.

"I still love you and I always will."

I felt Nico nod.

"I didn't want to leave, Percy. I didn't want to leave you. I love you and it probably hurts me more than you'll ever know."

We just stood there, tears still dripping down.

"When are you leaving?"

Nico wiped his face.

"Tomorrow morning."

"Does my mom know?"

He nodded.

"I would've told you, but I wanted you to enjoy today."

I closed my eyes and breathed in.

"Let's go home and enjoy some cuddling then."
*the next morning*

When I woke up, Nico was already showered and dressed, casually eating downstairs.

I put some slippers on and went into the living room.

His suitcase was already there.

I bit my lip.
I'm not ready.

Nico walked out of the kitchen and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I'm gonna miss you so much."

"I'm gonna miss you even more."

He turned me around and I just held him, trying to imagine life without him.

I was almost a senior.

Only a year, a summer, and a couple weeks until I graduated.

But as understanding my mom was, we both knew that I couldn't just move to a different continent for a boy, no matter how much I loved him.

Nico wiped a tear that had been sliding my cheek.

"Time will pass sooner than you can believe," he muttered.

I nodded, and pulled away.

My mom entered the room and Nico said his goodbyes to her and Paul.

I walked with him outside where there was a taxi waiting to take him to his dad's hotel.

He turned around and hugged me.

I pulled him tight and he leaned up.

Our last kiss was wet with tears.

He left from my house.

Left from New York.

Left from my life.

And even though I knew we could text and Skype and do whatever, long distance never works out unless you can visit each other.

We both knew this, but he promised to try as hard as he could.

I promised, too.

I swore on the mythical River Styx that I would try to keep us together.

And I intend to keep that promise.
