Chapter 25

Percy

Nico and I walked to school the next day.

He was kind of quiet and looked nervous.
What's going on with my boyfriend?

I sighed and he looked over at me, his eyes sort of tense.

"You okay?"

His voice was soft and barely audible.

"I'm fucking fine."

I felt bad for snapping at him, but he's been distant lately and today was just off.

It was supposed to be a good day.

Our month anniversary.

The start of something new.

I walked faster and got to school, leaving Nico alone.

When Nico walked into literature, his eyes were glued to the floor, never looking up.

He sat down next to me and gave me a weak smile.

"Happy anniversary."
How could I be mad at him?

I gave a small smile in return and reached out for his hand.

Nico pulled our intertwined fingers to him mouth and kissed the back of my hand.

"It'll get better soon, I promise," he muttered.

I closed my eyes and nodded.

The bell rang and I felt Nico start shaking.

My eyes shot open as I heard the intercom echo across the school.
Helloooo everyone. As you know, every year, we announce the cutest couples. This year is big for LGBT! That's great. Our couples are:
Annabeth and Piper! Wow, who didn't see that coming!
Leo and Kaitynn, our sweethearts!
Sandra and Jason, when its on a good day!
Reyna and Ruth! Somehow that shorty has her controlled.
Annnnnnd Percy Jackson, our star athlete, with Calypso.
You're stupid, he's dating Nico Di Angelo. You see, this is why we have the paper.
Oh haha, my bad. Sorry, Nico.
Alright well, that's about it.

There was a click that let us know it was over.

I looked over at Nico and he was in a state of panic.

"You... You actually did it..."

Nico turned to me slowly.

"Yeah... I guess I did..."

I grabbed his face and kissed him.

He kissed me back and I pulled him as close as I possibly could, amazed that he had actually come out to the entire school.

Ms. Perez had us work on our plays for a little bit and I missed him the entire time.

When lunch rolled around, I walked into the cafeteria, impatient and ready to see Nico.

I spotted him in the regular table.

Before I could near him, a hand pulled me back.

"Percy Jackson.. Did you hear the announcements?"

I turned and saw Calypso twirling her hair between her long, pale fingers.

"Yeah... Why?"

She giggled.

"We're a cute couple, stupid!"

"Uh... I kinda have a boyfriend?"

She waved it off.
