*Not Edited*

Thank you for deciding to give my story a try! I have been working on this for the past few weeks and hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

As of right now, this story will be five chapters long and any flashbacks will be labeled accordingly.

"So where is this new partner of mine?" Kara spoke into the receiver of her cellphone as she paced the floor to ceiling windows of the conference room, looking at the view of the city down below.

"Right here." Spoke a deep accented male voice from behind her.

Kara turned around, "About... time." Kara couldn't help but let her sentence falter as she turned around to look at her new partner who stood in the doorway. He was no older than herself, his jet-black hair was combed back, a slight quiff evident, as his black suit and tie stood out against the whitewash walls like a sore thumb.

"The name is Louis Bryson, you must be Agent Beckley?" he smirked as he noticed her checking him out, 'Typical.' he thought as he walked forward, pulling his right hand out of his pocket, holding it in air.

"Nice of you to finally show." She rolled her eyes, ignoring his hand that hung in the air as she walked by him, into the hallway, hoping the redness of her burning cheeks would quickly go away.

Louis dropped his hand, mumbling under his breath as he rushed to catch up to her tall retreating frame.

Kara quickly walked down the hall, smirking herself as she heard Louis's Armani shoes stomping against the tile. "You'll be given a standard issue Heckler & Koch .9-millimeter handgun as your duty weapon, if you want to carry a back-up it must go through the higher ups before you can carry it on your person. Your desk is located on the fourth floor, you are welcome to add personal affects to it but keep it clean and presentable per the agency's policy. Suits are not required seeing as more often than not we are out in the field. Forensics and trace is located on the second floor, firearms and ballistics on the third, indoor shooting range and evidence log in is on the first." Kara heard a thud as she turned around and found Louis laying on the floor. She bit back a smile that was threatening to be shown, quickly hiding her amusement as she rolled her eyes and kept walking to the front of the building.

"You and I both will share an agency issued vehicle, make sure that the gas tank is full after every assignment and that the car stays in the shape of which you found it." Kara told him as they walked through the parking lot as she hit the unlock button to the car.

"Oh sweet baby Jesus." Louis awed as he stood in front of the blacked out car. "2010 SRT8?"

Kara nodded her head "425 horsepower, 6.1 liters with a V-8 engine, and a five speed automatic transmission."

Louis smiled, biting down on his fist to stop himself from cheering, like a kid on Christmas his eyes hold a certain glint of innocence "Can I touch it?" he asked excitedly.

Kara laughed at his child like innocence. "Yes, but you're not driving him."

"Him?" Louis said, raising an eyebrow as he opened the door.

"Yes, he has a name, Callen." Louis went to ask her another question, but Kara stopped him, raising a hand in the air. "Don't ask, my last partner had a weird fetish of naming his cars."

"So can I drive or..."

"No." Louis opened his mouth to protest before she continued on. "You'll have to gain my trust first."

"Come on," he sighed dramatically "were partners, isn't that enough trust?"

"I'm sorry but-"

"You're just like the rest of them." He mumbled under his breath.

"You want to repeat that?" She said as she gritted her teeth, not believing what her ears just heard.

"I said you're just like the rest of the women that work in this agency. You're married to the job, on call twenty-four seven. The type that goes home to an empty one-bedroom apartment with your two cats named Thelma and Louise. You have no friends and your parents live on the other side of the country. You wonder where you have gone wrong in your life every night while you sit in-front of the television eating a gallon of ice cream, binge watching your favorite show."

"You know nothing about me." She seethed as she crossed her arms.

"Point proven."

"First off, I am not married to the job I'm just making a living enjoying what I do. I don't own a one-bedroom apartment, it's a three bedroom house. I do own two cats and a dog, their names are Midnight, Julio and Twizzler. And, surprise, I do have friends just none that know what I do for a living. So, don't come in here accusing me of being 'just like the rest of them.'" She snapped, poking her index finger on his chest.

Louis smiled before letting out a laugh, leaving Kara confused.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing, we're going to get along just great." He said before leaning in. "And my weapon of specialty isn't a gun sweetheart." He said as he stepped closer, leaning in "It's a knife." He whispered, smirking as he turned around and walked away, leaving his new partner dumbfounded.

"Wait!" she said before running after him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"What do you think it's supposed to mean." He said, shoving his hands into his pockets as they walked back towards the building.

"I've read your file. Nowhere on there is there anything about you're specialty."

"Then you also know that I happen to be a very good liar, but don't always believe what you read sweetheart."

"Stop calling me that!"

Louis chuckled, "You know that there is maybe an ounce of truth in my file right?"

"So what happened in Landigal... Did that happen the way you said it did in your report?"

Louis grimaced "Not exactly."

"Ok so you lied then?"

"Technically no, it was a lie by omission."

"What were you omitting?" Kara asked.

"You know, you ask too many questions." Louis told her as they stopped in front of the large office building they had just walked out of. Kara shrugged as Louis let out a sigh. "I can't tell you."

"Can't or Won't?"

"Both."

"You said that I should trust you." She said, Louis nodded his head as he rocked back onto his heels. "Then how am I supposed to trust you when your file is practically nothing but a big lie?"

"Did you read everything in my file?" He asked. Kara hesitated to answer as she remembered the little details of the missions he had been on, quickly nodding her head when she realized a lull in their conversation. "Then that's all you need to know, if you've got my back then I've got yours."
