The Assignment

 The pain was excruciating.

As the sharp needle pierced my skin, the cold fluids entered my body; I felt each droplet multiply... and multiply..... divide.... into more droplets..... 

It stung like mad....

Like I was getting electrified.

But whatever the fuck was in those fluids..... 

.... were gonna make me stronger......

So it didn't matter how bad it hurt.

He lit a cigarette and took a few puffs....

"We have a new assignment for you, Hunt. There's a girl.... name's of Amanda....... I need her. You're going to get her for me......"

".................."

"Here's her address."

He flicked a piece of paper across the table to me, with his finger. 

I stared down at it.

67 Ace Street, San Francisco, Cal.

"She should be home.... if not... just wait there until she comes...."

".............."

"You got it?"

I nodded, slowly. 

"Oh yeah, it'll take you a while to get there...... so you have a week.... plenty of time, right?"

I nodded again. 

"Good. She's a brunette with brown eyes. Pretty girl. You'll notice her. I don't want her harmed in any way. Not one scratch."

"..................."

"Now GO."

 It was 9:00 p.m. 

I sat in the car and watched the house from across the street....

There was no vehicles parked in front, so she wasn't home yet.

After a while, I got impatient....

I was about to get out the car and walk around, but that's when I saw the bright lights of a gray car pull up on the side...

After the lights shut off, I saw the driver's door open and a woman walk out; long hair.... 

I opened my door slowly and got out the car...

She looked around before walking up to the house...

I quickly crossed the street.

As she was about to unlock the front door with her key, I rushed up from behind, grabbed her and covered her mouth with my hand.

Her body jumped in fright and she tried screaming. 

"Shut up," I told her. 

She kept wiggling in my arms so I held her tighter.

"Don't make a sound or I'll kill you. You're coming with me. My car is across the street. Act normally."

I could almost feel her heart pounding through her back... 

She nodded...

"Good."

I slowly removed my hand from her lips and released my grip around her stomach to hold her arm. 

"Let's go."

She turned around without looking at me as I led her across the street...

Once we came to the car, I opened the back door.

"Get in."

"Wh-why... are you doing this....?"

"GET IN."

Tears filled her eyes but she listened and got in.

"And don't even try to escape," I said, before shutting the door.

She kept staring at me through the mirror....

"Who are you...?" she finally asked...

"None of your business."

".... Where are you taking me?"

"None of your business."

"Why are you doing this to me? Or you going to hurt me...?"

"Shut up."

"I don't know you and you're kidnapping me. Don't you think I deserve to know what's going on...?"

"If I tell you will you stop talking?"

"Yes..." she responded, ever-so-softly...

"You're being taken to someone."

"Who?"

"That's all you need to know."

"Are... they going to hurt me?"

"Don't know. Don't care."

"... Are you... being paid to do this....?"

"In a sense."

"What ....are you getting....?"

"Power."

"..... what?"

"You heard what I said."

"I... don't understand."

"I get power. In return, I do what they tell me."

She went quiet for a moment....

"So you've.... done this before?"

"Yes...."

"Have you....killed anyone?"

"Too many to count," I replied, glancing at her through the mirror.

The look I gave her, must've been extremely scary because I could see her shivering...

".... Please let me go," she said, in a shaky tone... "Please..."

"I'm afraid I can't do that. Now shut the hell up or I'll make this little trip your worst nightmare."

She cried...
