Chapter 2-Confirmation

Riley Ann POV

Today was my day off. I woke up early to make my husbands lunch. Newt and Lily are also waiting for me to feed them. Newt and Lily have grown so much that they are so adorable. I pack his lunch and his briefcase as he readies for work. "Sweetheart, I know that you have a lot to do today but don't forget that my parents are coming for dinner tonight." Charlie comes up to me and asks, "What's for dinner?" I smile and say, "Either my famous spaghetti or meat-loaf slathered with ketchup. Just like how you like it." Charlie kisses me. I hang onto him like there is no tomorrow. "Riley, do you think it's too soon to check to see whether or not you're pregnant?" I look down and said, "Well, we have been making love often so I can check today. I'm still unsure because I had my cycle last week." Charlie handed me a pregnancy test and said, "Please check, my love. I'm anxious to be a father. I want us to have a baby, my love." He gave me a kiss and said his goodbyes. I could hear his car pulling out of the driveway. I locked the door and went back to feeding Newt and Lily. Lily meowed quietly as Newt licked her fur. Over the years, they became close and he has been very protective of her. I fed both of them and decided to let them both out into the yard. Lily jumped as she touched the grass while Newt began to chase her and stand over her. Lily whimpered as Newt began to lick her face. "Newt, stop that! You're scaring Lily." I said to him as he looked up at me and licked Lily again. Lily shook her entire body as they both came back into the house. They head to their beds but Newt nudges Lily over to his bed. She curls up in a ball as Newt wraps his body around hers. They slept peacefully together. I find this adorable, thinking of myself with Charlie and how I was at first resistant but eventually, grew to love and adore him. Suddenly, the phone rings and I answer. "Hi, sweetie! How are you?" My mother exclaimed on the other line. I smiled, thinking of my mother. "Hi, Mom! What time are you coming over?" "We're coming at 7. I was going to ask you if you just wanted to go out instead of cooking. Maybe somewhere close to Charlie's work." I began thinking of the restaurants that were close to Charlie's work. "Well, there is a Chinese restaurant by his work. It's really good. I'll send you the address now and we'll see there at 7." "Okay, Riley. I love you." My mother responded and I replied with, "I love you too." We both hang up. I look at the time and saw that it was already 11:55. I then head to the living room and watch TV. As I flick through channels, my stomach starts to do turns. I feel that my intestines are on fire and I groan in pain. Newt and Lily immediately jump up and are concerned for me. "It's okay, babies. I'll be fine." I gasp heavily and panted like a puppy in heat. I head to the bathroom with the test in hand. I take the test and wait. The wait seemed forever. Finally, the ten minutes was up. I looked at the test and it read positive. My heart dropped. I gasped frantically. I'm pregnant! I'm going to be a mother! I can't believe it! I rush out of the restroom and head to my bedroom to get dressed. I knew that this would be great news for Charlie and my parents. I call my friend, Michelle, who I met when she and I were in college. "Michelle, are you off today? I have wonderful news! I'm pregnant!" Michelle was screaming over the phone. "Have you told Charlie?" She asked. "No! I'm meeting him and my parents for dinner. I want to buy a cake so that I can announce I'm pregnant." "I know a woman who makes gender-revealing cakes. She can make one of those for you! It'll be so cute!" I start crying lightly. "Riley, it's fine! You have loving parents and a doting husband. You'll be fine." I wipe my tears and say, "Send me the address and I'll meet you there! Go ahead and call the order in." We hang up, and I finish dressing. I leave the TV on for Newt and Lily, who are on the couch. I grab my purse and leave the house. I then send the address of the restaurant to my mother and leave. I am elated and floating on cloud nine. I feel so happy that there are no words to express it. I cannot wait to break the news to my family. Nothing will ruin my happiness.
