PROLOGUE

He stood there with his fists clenched. His gaze fixated on his ghastly pale face. His wife, who was the source of happiness in his life and would always fill his life infectious joy, was lying on the bed, all pallid and lifeless. His head was heavily bandaged and face tainted with bruises. Tubes from multiple machines were connected to his body, monitoring his heart and brain and supporting him to live. He felt lightheaded and nauseous at the horrifying sight in front of him. He felt as if he was hit by a ton of bricks. The millions of invisible thread which had held him for so long had snapped. An unfamiliar sound escaped his quivering lips, followed by a burning sensation in his eyes. Sounds from various machineries filled the silent room, were comparable to death march.

'Please... don't leave me.' he pleaded, hoping that his lifeless husband would listen to his appeal through telepathy. Before he could realize, shiny drops of liquids trickled down his face.
