Mandy and Brian were sitting, drinking tea and facing each other over the dining table. "I'll support whatever you decide to do, Mandy," Brian said. "You're right. It's the chance of a lifetime."

Mandy replied glumly, "I know. And if it wasn't for the small matter of a long lost Father, who just happens to be the bloody manager, I'd jump at it. But how could I go there and not tell him who I am. Mum's made it clear that she never wants to see him again."

"You can't live your life for other people. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions that you know are going to hurt people," Brian said.

With her face resting on her hands, on the table, Mandy sighed. "God, why is everything so hard?"
