Falling

The sleepover

It was Friday night and Aaliyah had invited me to sleepover at her house tonight. I had gone home quickly after school to shower and get my things when my mom stopped me on the way out.
"Em, your father has to work late today and he won't be home until tomorrow afternoon. So is it okay if I go out tonight with my friends from work? Will you be okay here?" She had her hand on my shoulder when I shrugged it off.
"Mum I'm fine. I'm actually going to Aaliyah's tonight."
"Oh. Well have fun sweet heart. I'll see you tomorrow then?" She asked as I slipped on my shoes and grabbed my keys.
"Yep. Have fun mom!" I ran out of the house and got in the car. When I got to Aaliyah's house she was waiting for me on the front step.
We went in her house, made some chocolate drizzled popcorn and cheesy nachos, then headed downstairs to the basement to watch a bunch of movies. When we got down the stairs, Shawn was in the basement working out. He had his shirt off and I could see his six pack, toned muscles, and amazing body.
"Shawn I called dibs on the basement today! Get out!" Aaliyah yelled. Shawn put down the weights and started to walk towards us. He took a handful of the popcorn from the bowl in my hands and he winked at me before he continued up the stairs.
"Ew did he just wink at you?!" Aaliyah's mouth almost dropped open, and I could help myself when I blushed and a big grin broke across my face.
"Oh my god you like my brother!" She yelled.
"Liyah, lets just sit for a minute." I said and I walked towards the couch with her following me.
"Okay, listen... yes I think your brother is cute, and yes I think about him sometimes, and yes my heart skips a beat sometimes when we make eye contact. But Aaliyah you're my best friend and I don't want to do anything to-" Aaliyah cut me off.
"Okay I have a confession, I may have told him you thought he was really hot." She said quietly.
"Aaliyah!!! Oh my god I can't believe you told him that!" I screamed.
"I'm sorry but I could see the way he looked at you and he hasn't looked at anyone that way since his last girlfriend dumped him. And I could see the way you looked at him. You're my best friend and I love you to the end of the world, so if you wanted to date him, it's okay." She hugged me.
"Liyah... are you serious?"
"Yes I am! Plus how cool would that be?!" She seemed to get excited over the thought.
We started to watch a movie when I had to go to the bathroom. I went upstairs and as I turned the corner I bumped into Shawn.
"I'm so sorry Shawn!"
"Hey no worries!" He laughed. He started to walk away when he stopped and turned to me.
"Hey, my sister said you can cook... well I kinda burned nachos. Could you help me?"
I felt my heart flutter in my chest.
"Yea for sure!" With that we wandered into the kitchen and I helped him make his nachos.
When I went back downstairs Aaliyah was asleep. I turned off the movie and went to bed on the other couch.
