Ryder's POV:
It was my free period, so I went outside to smoke. I met up with my friends, Jacob Burke and Chase Collins.
Soon the bell rang, so we had to go to our next class. I walked into the classroom late. "You're late," the teacher said. I just rolled my eyes and sat down.
Just then the nerd walked in late. "S-sorry I'm late," she said to our teacher.
"It's okay Ruby, just take a seat," our teacher replied. She walked to the back of the room. As she was walking by I noticed a bruise on her jaw, but it looked like she was tried to cover it up with concealer.
I ignored it and slept the rest of the class. The bell woke me up and I left as soon as possible.

Ruby Johnson/America Garrett's POV:
I lost track of time at the Underground, which resulted in me being late for my next class. Luckily, my reputation as a nerd allowed me to get away with it. When I was walking to my seat, I saw Ryder's eyes lingering on me.
Soon the bell rang and I left the class. As I was walking to my locker, I ran into Ryder and his gang.
