My eyes cracked open as the light filtered into the cabin. I felt like I was hugging a warm teddy bear. When I fully opened my eyes, I realized I was hugging Jack. I immediately let go and wiped my hands on the nightgown. He makes me change but he doesn't? Well that makes sense. I had to wake him up so I could change. I shoved his shoulder. "Hey Jack. Oi Jack! Wake up!" I shook him until my arms were tired. I can't dump water on him because that would soak the bed. There was only one thing I could do. "Sorry Jack." I whispered as sympathetically as possible. I raised my hand and slapped his face. "AHH I'll cut off your rotting head Barbossa!"I jumped off the bed from his loud outburst.

"Oh Jessica? Sorry dearie." I rolled my eyes but smiled. "Jack get out. I have to change." I ushered him near the door. "Have you forgotten about the zipper?" He smirked. "Oh right. Come on then please." He unzipped the dress, but I held it from falling. "Perfect. Now LEAVE." I grabbed his hat, slammed it on his head and shoved him onto the deck, closing the door. I let the dress pool onto the floor. I grabbed my clothes and quickly got dressed. Folding the nightgown, I placed it on the bed when I finished. I grabbed my own hat,  my unfinished bottle of rum, and walked onto the deck. Will was sitting on the edge of the boat like how he did on the ride to Tortuga. "Good morning Jes!" He called as I walked past him to the way off the ship. "Morning Will!" I called back, taking a swig of rum.

"Let's go Will! We have to go meet Mr. Gibbs at the docks remember?!" I shouted to him. He jumped up and rushed to me. We both ran to the edge of our dock where Jack was waiting with Mr. Gibbs. There was a row of men lined up. ".. All of them, faithful hands behind the mast. Every man worth his salt. And crazy to boot." Mr. Gibbs was telling Jack about these people. They must be our future crew! I thought. "So this, is your able-bodied crew?" Said Will. The uncertainty in his voice was hard not to hear. Jack ignored my brother and continued observing the crew. He stopped in front of a man with a parrot. Curious, I stood on Jack's right while Gibbs was on the left. "You sailor." Jack spoke to the guy with the parrot. "Cotton sir." Gibbs corrected. "Mr. Cotton." Jack continued. "Do you have the courage and fortitude to follow orders and stay true in the face of danger and almost certain death?"But Cotton didn't respond. "Mr. Cotton! Answer me man."

Jack was quite confused as to why Cotton couldn't respond. Mr. Gibbs stepped in. "He's a mute sir. Poor devil's had his tongue cut out. So he trained the parrot to talk for him." Cotton opened his mouth to reveal his stub of a tongue. Will raised an eyebrow, I clapped my hand over my mouth, and Jack stuck his own tongue out in disgust. "No one's yet figured how." Gibbs continued. Jack now faced the parrot. "Mr. Cotton's...parrot. Same question." The bird perked up. "Squawk! Wind in the sails, wind in the sails." Will, Jack and I were puzzled. "Mostly we figure that means yes." Mr. Gibbs attempted to translate. "Of course it does."said Jack, sounding professional. He turned to Will. "Satisfied?" Disappointment doesn't even describe the look on Will's face. "Well you've proved their mad." He spat. "I think they're ok." I said, shrugging my shoulders. "That's the spirit, love." Jack encouraged. "And what's the benefit for us?" someone shouted.

The voice was too feminine sounding to be a man. The four of us slowly walked to the end of the line. The second to last person wore a black hat that covered most of their face. Jack lifted the hat, to find a dark skinned woman underneath. "Annamaria." Jack smiled. SMACK! She had slapped him right across the face so that his head turned to face Will and I. "I suppose you didn't deserve that one either." Will taunted. Jack held up his hand. "No, that one I deserved." Anamaria shook her head in agreement. "You stole my boat." She sneered." "Actually.." SMACK! She had slapped Jack again. He winced as he opened his mout once more. "Borrowed. Borrowed without permission, but with every intention of bringing it back to you." Anamaria glared at him. "But you didn't." She snarled.  "You'll get another one." Jack spoke in a high pitched voice. "I will." She said threateningly. Will stepped in. "A better one." Jack quickly caught on. "A better one." He repeated Will. "That one." I spoke up. "What one?" Jack questioned. I nodded towards the Interceptor. "That one?!" Jack spoke through gritted teeth.

But seeing as he couldn't do better he sighed. He turned back to Anamaria. "Aye. That one. What say you?" She considered the thought. Then she and the rest of the crew shouted AYE! I was satisfied with it but I had to do something. SMACK! "WHAT DID I DO NOW! That's the second time you've slapped me in not even two days!" Jack exclaimed. "Third in total. You shouldn't steal an aquaintance's boat Jack." I smirked. "It's not good manners." Jack pointed at himself. "Pirate." "But that shouldn't count towards friends." I countered. Jack gave up and observed the crew. Mr. Gibbs walked up to Jack looking worried. "No no no no no, it's frightful bad luck to bring a woman aboard sir." I glared at Gibbs and unsheathed my sword, pointing it at him for the second time. "You better watch your mouth Gibbs or you won't have one." I snarled. I retracted my sword and stormed off towards the boat. "It'd be far worse not to have her. And especially her." Jack pointed in my direction, while I shot threatening looks at Gibbs. "Besides, she makes first-rate rum." Jack mumbled to Mr. Gibbs before following me onboard the Interceptor.

"That Gibbs is going to be the death of me he makes me so mad!" I growled. Will and I were hanging around on deck while the rest of the crew began preparing the ship. Will patted my shoulder. "I'm sure you'll get used to him soon enough, if you can get so used to Jack." My face turned beet red for a second. "What makes you say that?" I roared. Will rubbed the back of his neck. "Well I mean, you did sleep with him." I punched his arm. "Ow, what was that for?" "The way you said that made it sound like.... I'm not even going to go there!" I was a bit flustered. "And Jack is not like what you think he is. He doesn't treat me like some mindless girl like most do. I respect him because he respects me, savvy?" I huffed, crossing my arms. "Hmm. I never really thought about it like that. I guess in truth, he is a good man." He hugged me with one arm and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"I couldn't help but overhear one of my favorite words." Jack came walking up to me. "Since when do you say savvy, love?" He smirked. "Since I became a pirate Captain Sparrow, savvy?" I smirked back. He grinned. "I'll never get over the fact that your the first to say Captain when first meeting me, love" I punched his arm. "Keep egging me on and I'll stop calling you Captain, savvy?" I smiled.
