A Forbidden Fire

Your smile delights me,
Your laugh.
Every curve on your body
Is simply captivating.
I imagine us laying beneath the stars,
Conversing about our secret fears and desires,
Fangirling over intergalactic fantasies and
Musing over the endless possibilities that discovering entangled pairs will bring,
Sharing sorrows and tears as another black body drops to its knees on the streets.
We imagine how we can make the world better,
Spend hours throwing out theories to heal our wounded world,
Our eyes meet and as I stare into your soul,
I think
How beautiful you and I could be
Together,
Melding our minds and bodies together,
Using our mutual passions to make this world better.
We would take on the world hand in hand,
You and I,
Our flames could unite and spark a fire that could burn away the dross from this earth.

But then you smile longingly at me
And suddenly I see that I am not brace enough to take your hand for the world to see.
I am not brave enough to embrace your body against mine,
Nor do I have the courage to let our lips touch.
I am still afraid to show the world who I really am,
To afraid of what others may say.
I am not courageous enough to deserve your love,
So I glance away,
Stare up at the twinkling stars in the night sky,
And wonder if there's a dimension out there in this infinite universe
In which I am brave enough to reach out to you and grasp your hand.

This piece is completely unedited. I'll prob come back and make it more "poetic" later, but I just wanted to write something exactly as it came out.
