The boy with the sleepy grin

He appeared so suddenly.
I thought he was a dream

From the aura of light that followed him
To the outline of wings on his back
He was beautiful

The first time I saw him
I was in the hospital

He stood by my side as I woke up
His warmth radiated on me
Without even touching me

Mother didn't see him
Neither did the nurse

I saw his face at school
In random windows
& walking down the hall

He helped me

Something wasn't working

I'm sick
I guess I knew this would happen
I heard what the doctor said
I heard mother cry
I'm not gonna make it through the night

I'm tired
So many people came today
They all cried
My eyes are dry now
I'll miss them all
But I'm okay

It's time to go to sleep
My eyes won't open anymore
I think it's time
