I was sitting on my bed in my room. I thought about Payton. I thought about Kennedy. I thought about Katie. I thought about Lily. I thought about Maria. I thought about my lock. I thought about my quiz. I thought about a lot.

At dinner, I got a piece of paper and a pencil. I wrote. "What are you writing love?" Mom asked. "I....got....friends? Honey that's great!" Mom said. The inside of me fluttered with pride. "What are their names?" I wrote in response, Payton, Katie, Lily, Kennedy, and Maria. "Oh sweetheart I'm so proud of you!" Mother engulfed me in hugs, and I felt happy.

When I got to school Monday, I was ready for the quiz. But it wasn't until 2nd period. I had math first. Payton and I walked together to

Mrs. Blue's classroom.

Mrs. Blue came around and collected our homework, and then gave us a sheet on multiplying decimals. I finished it quick. I looked back behind me and saw Payton was struggling. I turned back around. I don't think I could teach, when I don't talk.

After math, I studied my notes at my locker, then went into science class. Mr. Nano had already put a quiz on each desk. I worked busily on the quiz. When I finished, I walked up to Mr. Nano's desk and put the quiz down. "Done?" Mr. Nano asked, looking surprised. I nodded. He took the paper, and smirked. He stamped it and slid it back to me.100%, figures. I always got 100s.

At lunch, Payton asked me, "what'd you get on your quiz?" I took out the paper from my agenda and gave it to her. "Whoa, 100? Nice Sky!" She said. She frowned. "I got an 82." I clapped. She smiled. "Thanks."

We took the bus home from school. Payton looked sad. I didn't say anything. I felt bad. Then, I did it. I said. I talked. I asked, "are you OK?"

That made her light up. "Now I am!!" I hugged her. She hugged me. I felt so good. We talked all the way home. This is what I have been missing my whole life.
