It all started when Dad called in sick from work, even though he was physically feeling fine. Emotionally though, he was a complete wreck. He didn't have the motivation to get out of bed.

I stayed home from school, at his request, to take care of him as he didn't trust Mom or Mendel to do it. Do it or do it right, I don't know.

Mendel gladly obliged without batting another eye, knowing that this was almost the last stage and his hell would soon be over. Mom, however, protested. She argued that she was already home and was readily available to fulfill his needs, so why pull me out of school? In the end though, I was able to reason that both Dad and I needed each other more than we needed anyone else, and she obliged.
