Man, am I ahead of schedule or what?
Okay, so I was at Walmart today to get some yarn for a craft, and it being Force Friday and all, I decided to splurge.

(My desk is a mess so I'm currently using my bed, which is directly under a light source so pardon my shoddy photography.)
Anyway, let's get on with this so she can go on the shelf!
Kriff, this packaging is really secure. I'm trying to do the least amount of damage possible so I can recycle it but this doesn't look like it'll be easy.

I'm about halfway through the liberation process and all I can think about is that one scene when Kylo Ren has her strapped to the table... lol. Okay, back to work... trying really hard not to cut her clothes... ugh. Now I see why some people just leave the damn thing in the box. This is a hassle.
(Some time later)
Annnnndd... she's out!
(More time happens while I wrestle with the accessories... how the kriff is... oh, okay. Got it.)
Also, just a PSA, don't accidentally cut this thing:

See that clear band? That's not packaging, that's actually holding her clothes together. I figured this out before I cut it, but just be careful. Nothing's worse than wrecking something on the first day of owning it. Except maybe someone else wrecking it... naw, because then you can guilt them into getting you a new one. If you break it, you have to live with the guilt and you just wasted twenty bucks.
Okay, now to put the box with the rest of the doll packaging I save for no apparent reason (to the layman, that is. I keep it in case there's a recall or just for crafts. Also, it sometimes contains information on just how much of it is detachable. Most articulated fashion dolls have removable hands and sometimes even elbows so you can put the clothes on easier. Be careful about this, I've broken several dolls as a child by not heeding the warnings) and start scrounging pennies to buy the rest of the collection.
Okay, now ON TO THE SHELF WITH YOU!
Geez, she's tough to balance. Gonna have to sit on the books then.
Okay, doesn't wanna do that either. Onto Plan C... I actually don't have a Plan C.
(Time passes)
I'm back. I finally got her to balance, and it only required standing on my pillow and a gift to the gods. Okay, so maybe she's not really balancing so much as leaning against the wall, but it'll look okay when I'm on the ground.

Rey's actually one of my top ten favorite Star Wars characters (I don't have an official ranking, but she's definitely up there). Heck, she's my lock screen.

(Looking back as I edit) geezum, I spent over an hour writing this.
And if anyone's curious, Walmart had her with the rest of the dolls, like actual dolls. Apparently Disney has decided to classify these as action figures, which certainly explains the decision to use sculpted clothing, though in the future, something that possesses the ability to rock multiple looks would be nice.
Oh, wait...
Princess Leia.
Eh, I'm still gonna be mad because switching emotions requires too much energy. Besides, we all know they're doing that to sell more dolls... action figure. Eh, screw it, she's part of my Dolliverse. If it's between 10" and 12" and humanoid, it's a doll.
Update: does not look okay from the ground but it's as good as I'm gonna get.

I blame the severally limited neck articulation.
(Climbs on bed to fix it)
(Mom tells me to clean the bathroom and in the five seconds I turn around both she and Han Solo fall down. She as in Rey, not my mom. My mom is okay.👍)
Kriff. I'm gonna have to build a special display case for these top-heavy barely-posable things. I'm imagining wood, some sort of safety harness, and more work than I want to put in right now.
Maybe the answer is not to unbox after all...
NAW!
Besides, then we couldn't play with them. I mean, stop-motion-animate them... heh heh.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have my work cut out for me. Like MyFroggyStuff once said "I think doll-balancing should be, like, a really impressive circus act."
