"How awesome," I said under my breath as (No other than) Julian Carter stood up and walked towards me. A smile was playing on his lips (I swear I could have stared at him all day. No wait. I don't like him. I can't like him.)

"You're in my English class right?" he asked in his sexy, alluring voice. All I could do was nod my head.

"I have to go to work but mom will be home soon. Laurie, could you show Julian where his room is and stuff like that?" Dad asked me. I hated him for it. Ok fine, not hated but I was really pissed. But I smiled and nodded my head anyway.

Five Minutes later, my dad left for work. That was how my family worked. Dad was home when I got home from school and mom was home when it was time for dinner. Dad sometimes grabbed some dinner that mom made before she left, but most times, he just ate fast food as his dinner. My dad wasn't fat  but he did love junk food. I led Julian up the stairs my heart beating loudly in my ears.

"Um, this will be your room I guess," I said, pointing to the guest room. It had a nice warm green on the walls and a queen sized bed that had a blanket the colour of the sky on a sunny day. The curtains were yellow so, that they could match the walls and the bed. Mom already had a gift basket for him. He walked past me into his new room. And I could smell his cologne. It smelled sweet and playful. Like summer and the warmth of light.

He looked around the room. His brown eyes scanned everything in it. I leaned against the door frame; knowing that if I didn't my legs would give in and I would be on the ground. His stuff wasn't in the room yet so that meant dad didn't bring it up. "Hello? Girl with brown curly hair, Are you listening?" said Julian. I blinked my eyes and he smirked.

"What do you want?" I asked, my cheeks getting hotter by the second.

"I just wanted to know when your mom was getting home," he said and sat down on the bed. He leaned back a little, putting his hands behind him. It took everything in me not to run and jump onto him and start kissing him. I looked into the room at the clock, 4:15. Shit! Time really does go by when you're with a hot guy.

"She should be home around 6 or 7. I'm going to my room now."

I walked away from Julian (and all of his hotness) and went to my room. It wasn't like the one he was staying in at all. My walls were a dark red with almost black curtains. I'm not emo or Goth (or anything else you can think of.) I just really liked the way it looked for some reason. And that reason was because I could hide Iron under the curtains.

I could see faeries. They were everywhere. But, in the house, there wasn't any. That's because my aunt and grandmother put iron everywhere to make sure they wouldn't come in. They didn't usually come into my school either because, of the lockers. But, there are some that are stronger than others and it can take a lot of iron to make them stay away.

Faeries can't stand iron. A little bit of iron could burn them and cause them a lot of pain. But, a lot of it? It could kill them. I put as much as I could fit without anyone seeing it in my room. My grandmother was terrifying so, my aunt had to teach me how to pretend like they aren't even there.

"Rule number one; don't look them in the eyes. Since you already know that they exist, they can hurt you. And if they find out that you can see them, they will rip your eyes out," said my aunt. She was staring at me with her pretty green eyes that had flecks of gold in them.

I nodded my head at her. Making sure that I was paying attention to what she was saying to me. I was ten so; I was old enough to understand what I had to do so that I wouldn't get myself into trouble. My aunt had on a faery costume, so that she could get her point across.
