I freeze, scared for the cause of her crying. Kate who never had until this moment frowned except for when I told her that I was trying to kill myself, was now leaning against a tree crying. I didn't know what to do. I start to walk over to her to try to comfort her when she noticed me. I see the immediate shock in her eyes, and I knew she hadn't expected to see me. Then she closed her eyes and squeezed them shut. After a few moments, the cleared her throat and attempted to look happy, but her eyes gave her away.
"Kate, what's wrong? What happened?"
"Can you promise me something?" She asked, her voice wavering.
"Yes anything," I said concerned at the seriousness of her voice.
"No matter what happens, promise me you live on."
"What? What do you mean? I don't have to promise; you'll be there with me."
"Please, just promise" she pleads.
"Okay, but what does--" she doesn't let me finish.
"I have been diagnosed with terminal three cancer. I'm Dying"
