Moon rings are more than just pretty jewellery, filled with moonlight. They are a vital part of every mermaid, who is regularly using her magic. Truth be told, any ring can be a moon ring, but usually and traditionally, of course, they are either gold or silver, with stones in shades of silver, blue, sea-green or orange. They are filled with full moon magic. Now, there are many ways for mermaids to make their very own moon ring, but I gathered two of the most popular and easiest ways.
First one is a simple spell, which requires one to put their ring in moonlight, with ring stone turned directly to the moon. Seven shells are required to be put around the ring and the person must say the following words:
Mother moon, the heart of the night,
make this ring filled with your light.
At midnight, these words must be spoken again, and the ring shall then be placed in saltwater for the rest of the night.
Another way is Selene's blessing. Now, Selene is a greek goddess of the moon and is in mermaid mythos protector of mermaids. In order for her to give her blessing to the ring, a mermaid must go on land, with her moon ring on her left thumb. Facing the moon, the following words are to be repeated two times:
O Selene, I give myself to you
and ask of nothing but your blessing upon this ring.
Your protection for my devotion.
Of course, I only included the two safest ways for your moon ring to be complete. There are, without doubt, many other ways to even increase the magic, but they are as dangerous as they can be.
