I scooted close to her, wrapping an arm around her.
"I'm so sorry Mia," I told her as she leaned her head on my shoulder,
"Megan and I were out on the streets for months, it was like Aladdin before he met Genie until your brother found us" she said, her frown turning into a small smile.
"Years later and now we're here and the things Noah introduced us to might not have been ideal, it definitely beat starving to death in the cold",
I never would've guessed.
Mia was such an amazing person; she always had this positive aura around her that made me smile just being in her presence. She was all about sunshine and rainbows and makeup and fashion, she could've fooled me.
She did fool me.
"It's a compliment, Lex because you're one of the strongest people I know, right up there with Megan and Noah" she chuckled softly, wiping away her stray tears.
"Mia I-" suddenly Noah stormed into the room, Megan following close behind him.
"What's wrong?" Megan asked when she saw Mia's state,
"Nothing" Mia said quickly and putting on a smile.
That's how she does it,
She hides her pain with a smile.
"We're going to the hospital" Noah said and I frowned,
"Can I-"
"You're not coming with us this time," Noah told me sternly,
"But-"
"For the love of God, Alex listen to me for once in your life!" he snapped and I nodded, unable to meet his eyes,
His tone softened, "We'll be home in a while, don't wait up" and with that they left.
I flopped back down on the couch, the anxiety eating away at me.
I pulled out my phone, playing Flappy Bird and trying to distract myself, eventually I gave up and called Logan.
It rang a few times before it picked up; when it did there was music and yelling on the other end.
"Hello?" Logan's voice spoke through the other end of the phone,
"Hey Logan, where are you?"
"What?"
"Where are you?"
"Huh?"
"Where are-"
There was laughing at the other end of the line and I rolled my eyes.
"Alexandra, honey, babe what's up?" he slurred and I frowned,
"Are you drunk?"
"No!" he protested but his slurred words told me otherwise.
"That's what a drunk person would say," I pointed out,
"Or someone who's actually not drunk"
"Smartass"
"A handsome and sexy smartass" he corrected me,
"Does your ego naturally get bigger when you get drunk?"
"Does your ego naturally get bigger when you get drunk?" he imitated me in a high-pitched voice,
"I do not sound like that, asshole",
"I do not sound like that, asshole" he said again and I rolled my eyes.
After a second it dawned on me.
