The third message is a coupon from my favorite store, Delias’, in honor of my birthday. 30% off baby!

My two texts are from my best friends, Kailyn and David.

Kailyn-Happy birthday Kaisa! Get to school at 7:40 for your present!

David: Hey K! Happy birthday! Get to school 20 minutes early for your present! Spoiler: Your parents got you a new Ducati.

I chuckle. David’s a major gossiper and is always giving spoilers out, like the finale of Glee or the winner of Idol.  Yes, he’s gay. But if you make fun of him or call him a name, I swear that the sky is blue, I will kick your ass. Yes, this 5-foot girl can kick your ass and ride a Ducati.

I glance at the clock. 7:20. I head downstairs and see Shelby and Phil in the breakfast nook, drinking coffee and enjoying muffins. They’re also dancing to Turn Me On by David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, but I’ve decided to let it slide. Even though it scars me. Hunter’s fervently typing on his laptop and I bet my knee socks that he’s writing a new video game code or something. They all look up when they notice I’ve entered the room.

“Happy birthday Kaisa!” Shelby exclaims, reaching forward to hug me. Phil and Hunter join the group hug.

“Thank you, oh my gosh, I can’t breathe!” I gasp. My family releases me and chuckles.

“Kaisa, you have a surprise in the gargage-“ Phil’s words never leave his mouth before I reply.

“David already told me. Thanks for the Ducati!” I wave at my family before heading out into the gargage. Shelby follows me, her long, blonde hair flowing behind her.

“Kaisa, wait!” She cries.

I turn and a weeping Shelby tackles me. I don’t know how I stay in my stance, but I somehow do.

“Bye, my Kaisa,” She whispers, before running back into the house. I stare at Shelby, confused. Why is she so emotional about me leaving? Especially when I’ll see then in a few hours. I shrug and climb onto my new Ducati, open the garage door, and ride away.

By the time I get to school, it’s 7:41. I quickly dismount my bike and run to my locker. Kailyn and David are waiting by my locker. David is juggling a cup of coffee, a muffin, a cupcake with a candle aflamed, and his BlackBerry.

David glares at Kailyn, whom’s holding nothing. “Don’t you want to hold some of this?”

“No thanks!” Kailyn answers chirply as she files her nails.

“Kailyn, stop being a lazy bitch and help David carry something that you’ve probably set up,” I demand.

Kailyn immediatly takes the cupcake and coffee away, relieving David.

“Thanks Kaisa, and damn, you just scared me with your tone,” David whistles.

I soften. “Sorry Kailyn.”

Kailyn brightly grins. “It’s okay; I was being a selfish bitch. Happy birthday K!” She loudly proclaims and gains the attention of everyone in the hallway. I blush, my face beet-red.

“Thanks guys—“ I’m cut off by an annoying, high-pitched squeal.

“Kaisa-roll! Happy birthday!” Destiny Feldman, the school’s queen bitch, smirks. She thinks she’s all high and mighty just because her dad’s the weatherman. That’s not really something to be proud of, especially when her father predicts that it’ll be sunny when it’s raining....

“Thanks,” I force a smile.

“I have just the present for you,” Destiny snaps her fingers and two of her highly perfumed minions step forward. They have cameras in their hands, the record button red. Uh-oh.
