Sebastian Thorton sits criss cross in his apartment on the ragged carpet his land lord has yet to fix. He is facing towards the small television set sitting directly in the middle of his small, dimly lit  living room. On the television his childhood friend Elix Randle is talking to a recently convicted criminal who was found guilty of murdering 17 people. 12 of them children and 5 of them parents who caught him in the act and tried to stop him, but unfortunately failed.

Sebastian handled catching the bad guys, and interviewed suspects on a daily basis being a detective, this was before they found out who committed the crime. When they did, they were arrested and someone else handled them. He could never imagine talking to these people afterwards. He thought he would snap if he ever had to.

He listened to the sick things the man said to Elix. Most of them had nothing to do with the murders, but what he would like to do to her. He noticed the clear look of disgust on her face as he said these things. Elix only pressed forward with her questions.

He was proud of how far Elix had come with her career. She started out writing small articles in the paper, only theories about criminals at first. She then moved forward to interviews that were written in the papers and now she had gone through with her first live interview. Though Sebastian was proud of his friend, he worried for her safety, he always had ever since she started doing these interviews. He watched as she asked the man her last question

"How could you do this to innocent people?" She asked.

The man scowled and spit towards her. He was roughly dragged out of the room and the camera cut to Elix wiping saliva from her pale cheek. The camera was cut off to static and then a news story about a local charity appeared.

Sebastian slowly stood from his position, blood rushing through his numb legs. He reached to turn off the t.v. and disappeared down the dark, narrow hallway to his room.
